... But Alive

Not just a bunch of pretty faces (cough...ahem), Hamburg, Germanys ... But Alive have to be one of Europes hardest working bands and one of the few to make it over the Atlantic to subject themselves to -- and survive -- the tyranny of the North American punk circuit. When theyre not busy cheering on the home-town anti-fascist soccer team, theyre writing songs addressing class, sexism, culture and life on the disintegrating streets of Hamburg - all set to the totally rockin sounds of punk, ska, hardcore, and reggae. Theyve released 3 records since 1991 and have earned themselves a huge audience in Germany from their constant touring and commitment to politicizing the medium.
