  • Comment by Anthony on May 5th, 2006 at 4:09 pm:

hahahaha that comparison to G7 to South Park and Fat Mike to Family Guy is great!! South Park always ruled more than Family Guy. This is another great Episode…Keep em coming!

Ace as always…would’ve been nice if Jello was there. Ahh well. Keep this up.

Motherfuck, i knew that song was about Chris. hah. shit.

  • Comment by shit on May 5th, 2006 at 6:00 pm:

-Jello Biafra? Oh c’mon! You guys really don’t have enough clout in the scene to pull a man of his stature into your studio, do you?

Life … but how to live it?

-I’m gonna hafta look into that band. That song was killer! Thanks for exposing me to them.

    Bon Jovi.

thats the funniest one ever. what pisses me off alot about the reclamation is that the citizens of caledonia are complaining that their “buisness is being disrupted by a minority group that isnt getting what they want.” minority group? i wanted to punch that guy on city tv, fuckface.

i know an irish and she doesnt eat lucky charms but she does eat a sack of potatoes a month.

more funnyness again. the anti-vegans have convinced me that eating plants is wrong and now im slowly starving to death only a few days left to go. unless….i eat….humans….

    farting…

  • Comment by buck on May 5th, 2006 at 11:21 pm:

have you seen fat mike’s bass? fuck, it’s ugly.

  • Comment by buck on May 5th, 2006 at 11:24 pm:

oh yeah, great show. but, i dont get the Donut thing. the lack of camel toe was a disappointment :( also, i thought chris would be reporting live from the Bermuda Triangle or something.. what happened to that????!!

  • Comment by alex on May 5th, 2006 at 11:28 pm:

Man, I feel like I’m a rap fan… are Chris and Mike gonna get hit by drive-bys ala Bigge/Tupac?

This is a feud for the ages.

The whole TBoLA/TEaTA/Tubthumper on the wall skit was hilarious though. Wow… what that episode lacked in Jello Biafra, it made up for in humour. Also:

“That’s what happens when you sign to Epitaph.” I pretty much died… though… John K. Samson still rocks my socks.

Also: wow, warsawpack are my second favourite G7 band and… ouch. I remember hearing their end was financial but they never mentioned owing money to you guys.

In conclusion: the podcasts own, and… I feel torn for being both a NOFX and Propagandhi fan. Some real identity crisis shit going down.

“more funnyness again. the anti-vegans have convinced me that eating plants is wrong and now im slowly starving to death only a few days left to go. unless….i eat….humans….”

We’re not saying eating plants is wrong. We’re saying eating plants is great especially with well cooked meat! Vegans are like voters who say, “At least we’re trying to do something! You’re just enveloped in self-pitty and superiority!”

Veganism is not the solution to the fucked up state of affairs of man, just as voting is not the solution to the fucked up state of affairs in the US. You can try to make me feel like a guilty meat eater, and profess how stupid I am, but just know, I feel exactly the way most of you feel when fat mike tries to convince us to vote (we know he’s missing the big picture, and he’s contributing to the corruption).

Thats Chumbawamba, not chumbawumba. They also have a new late 2005 release. Although it does not feature all the members and is more acoustic type stuff it’s still excellent.

  • Comment by soyuz on May 6th, 2006 at 2:04 pm:

i have to applaud fat mike for such insightful lyrics…he must have put so much thought into it..”maybe you are or could be the next…Chomsky”…whoa…no wonder NOFX can shit out so many amazing records every year.

i was watching a bootleg Propagandhi concert and chris was wearing a NOFX t-shirt. i wonder if he’ll do that again. NOFX sucks balls after gently caressing them…now that’s insightful commentary.

oh yeah, i would love to hear Born Against on the G7 Radio. Gotta play “Lillian” I love that song. And maybe some Crass…”Penis Envy” is an amazing record. Anything offa that would be great.

  • Comment by Hairhole on May 6th, 2006 at 3:43 pm:

Fucking Go Oilers Go eh! Man, Smello cy-plaph-la would have fucking kicked phanooter! You know what would have been just as cool? Having ‘the rod’ on!!! A fucking Rodcast!!! Either way, you put together another beautiful episode. In particular, the music rocked my panties off! I agree with ’shit’(ha), about Life…but how to live it? Fuck right off, those guys sound like jesus farted out a piece of heaven.

Also, I enjoyed Dereks bit on vegan bashers. But I fucking loved what Chris had to say: “Fuck cares. Fucking meat-eaters, go sit on a shit.” ahahahaha. That was definatly up there with one of the funniest things I’ve heard on these radio shows to date. I crapped my pants. That whole segment was brilliant. Chris’ rant about Coldplay had me in stitches too. Fuck I enjoy these radio shows!

Thanks again for the laughs guys. World Peace.

    P.S I still demand a ‘Rodcast’

  • Comment by scott on May 6th, 2006 at 4:55 pm:

“dude, apathy is no solution either”

exactly, are you quoting nofx’s one-celled creature? You got a beef with chris?

The podcast was great. I was dying when Chris was searching for the Tubthumper album on the wall, which was framed… “yup, got it on ebay” brilliant.

  • Comment by ml on May 6th, 2006 at 5:09 pm:

You guys can watch all of earthlings here:

  • Comment by Jennifer on May 6th, 2006 at 5:14 pm:

Earthlings is available free to watch on Google videos, for the person who asked and for anyone who was wondering.

    Wonderful. Favorite parts:
“Anyone who likes Coldplay could fuck a meat.”
“that’s what happens when bands sign onto Epitaph.”

both are sentiments I will forever hold dearly to.

Oh, and I just love how you guys just fucking dismantle the rather immature nature Fat Mike is exhibiting through his bitterness. Personally, I’ve strongly disliked NOFX before Potemkin, but these new songs are fucking ridiculous. Lyrically and musically.

Oh yeah, Life but how to live it were fucking incredible. Just as a headsup – the links to the last few bands on the radio page are all of the Wrangler Brutes.

  • Comment by somestupidmade-upname on May 6th, 2006 at 8:53 pm:

    blaaaah!

no, i was not quoting nofx (as far as i know), and no, i do not have “a beef with chris” (interesting choice of words though)

what i was trying to point out is that none of your criticisms are contructive. Neither veganism nor voting could possibly be considered the ’solution’, but it is a fucking starting point, yeah? That’s all i’m gonna say on that…

also, anyone who considers chris to be some sort of messiah is a fuckwit. he’s just a dude with a few ideas about the world. yes, he may be very funny and incredibly sexy, but in the end he’s just a dude.

to clarify, i was being totally sincere about the balls thing

*sigh*, one day i’m gonna have something good to say…

  • Comment by Medley on May 6th, 2006 at 9:47 pm:

Regarding the ‘beef’ and ‘dis tracks’ going on between NOFX and Propagandhi…

    1) I don’t see how ‘The Marxist Brothers’ (from the new NOFX album) is a shot at Propagandhi. From the lyrics it seems like more of a shot at Propagandhi fans (not all but some) who pose as anarchists than at Chris and co. For that matter, the song is just as much about fans of Rage and Chumbawamba (speaking of Chumbawamba, Weird Al’s ‘Everything You Know is Wrong’ is infinitely better)

    2) I’m not convinced ‘One Celled Creature’ is aimed at Propagandhi. People (even Chris, it seems) are making a more out of this lil’ feud than there is there. I like both bands.

  • Comment by Medley on May 6th, 2006 at 9:51 pm:

    …and a request/suggestion:

Play ‘Strange Ways’ by Madvillain next episode. Any MF Doom, Victor Vaughn, Dangerdoom, Madvillain at all for that matter.

And ‘30 Seconds’ by Cadence Weapon is an ear-pleasing (and topically appropriate) track.

And you can interview me next episode if you want. I won’t skip out on you, but it’ll have to be done by phone, or maybe instant-messenger (which you can then read out aloud.)

  • Comment by Al on May 7th, 2006 at 9:37 am:

    From fatwreck news:

“You should check out the latest podcast from G7 Welcoming Committee, it’s pretty hilarious. It turns out that Chris from Propagandhi really hates Coldplay, which comes as a relief to us because we thought we were the only ones he hates. Go download that fuckin’ thing!”

why the fuck is it that the radio show blogs always get the most comments? i fear this has been reduced to a scrimage between celebrities and the punk rock “media” has become the new Entertainment Tonight. and i am just a subscriber of national enquirer, and you…you…

years ago i asked AT if jello was a veggie and he said no…i guess everyone assumes things.

  • Comment by tom on May 7th, 2006 at 9:55 am:

That’s pretty stupid, actually, it’s like aknowledging the ethical problems within it, but instead of boycotting, supporting it. Which really defeats the purpose of selling the product to begin with. Didn’t Nike aknowledge their labor problems before?

I’m not comparing G7 or American Apparel with Nike or anything, I’m glad that they are working towards not supporting American Apparel since they believe there are serious problems with it. But that train of logic is kind of stupid. Don’t nod your head “YES” to whatever something ‘punk’ may say.

Funniest show yet and the best music. The first song is really amazing.
I remember dancing to that famous Chumbawamba song in a primary-school disco when I was like, 11.
Its a shame about Jello, some of his stuff is quite funny. Now that I think of it, Tom, when I saw him I believe he was wearing a leather jacket. Boooooo!
And Monty Python? North American humour may redeem itself yet.. Oh yes I did! I missed Declan de Barra in dublin the other week, guh. Blame my shillelagh…
I love how Canadians say Ireland. “Eye-er-land”. And my repetoire of “words that mean twinkle” grows with every episode. This week, dork.

    Subhumans!!

  • Comment by Jennifer on May 7th, 2006 at 11:29 am:

geez you guyz make no sense.

“1) I don’t see how ‘The Marxist Brothers’ (from the new NOFX album) is a shot at Propagandhi. If that’s the case, then that is just as goddamn hypocritical as Fat Mike releasing an album with “Rock for Sustainable Capitalism” on it – before he aknowledges the problems Propagandhi’s fans may have, he should see all the oozing poser-ness NOFX seems to yield to the world of punk, both personally and from fans a like. NOFX fans are far more apathetic, if not downright reactionary than the general bulk of Propgandhi fans. While I admit punk has been a rather passive movement, targetting Propagandhi fans for it is fucking ridiculous.

“why the fuck is it that the radio show blogs always get the most comments? i fear this has been reduced to a scrimage between celebrities and the punk rock “media” has become the new Entertainment Tonight. and i am just a subscriber of national enquirer, and you…you…”

eh. While I’ll admit that I seem to only comment on radio show blogs, most of the other blogs don’t get as many comments because there is a general agreement between the readers who read it, which doesn’t warrant much discussion. (and, who can effectively organize beyond that within an internet blog?) As for the more tension-filled blogs (like the animal rights one), I find it somewhat pointless. Internet arguing generally gets no where, although bringing up points online is more englightening.

Also. Tom’s last comment not only makes no sense whatsoever, but in fact looks like something I wrote some while ago. I don’t even remember what I really was referring to. What the hell?

  • Comment by ben on May 7th, 2006 at 11:30 am:

    Dear (Propagandhi and) Fans,

What the fuck, i am getting a little tired of this.
‘This’ being the situation that might get blown up and take energy and attention away from important things.

The little feuds between artists seems like a waste of broadband. Maybe like this post. it may not be something serious, but some kids may take it like that. The replies on this thead are proof of that.

Whether argueing over buisness models for record labels that cater to the musical tastes of a VERY small portion of humanity or the (lack of) benefits of voting in the most powerful empire on the history of planet earth, its really fucking silly.

Noone wants Bush fucking the planet over. Noone wants major labels to run the industry and commodify ‘punk’. And being different people with different ideas, they have different ways of going about helping our situation. These people are friends and allies, not enemies.

Allow me as someone outside the industry to stick my ass in and comment on something i know nothing about, but i am under the impression that Fat Mike runs his record label fairly ethically. Not perfect, but not an enemy to people who are trying to make this shitty world a better place. Until i hear different, i can’t be too negative. Save that for the wankers who have no ethics. I am glad there are labels like Fat that can take a chunk out of the Majors, and give kids who are just coming into punk access to bands other than Sum 41 anf Good Charolette.
Like i said in a different post, not many people go from mindless radio drivel (Coldplay, ha!)to Oi Polloi overnight. Bands like NOFX are certainly a better way to get into the “scene” than the Major-label alternative.

Same goes for punk voter. I admire Propagandhi’s stance, but i tend to agree with Fat Mike (and Michael Albert too, i think) on the elections. The revolution isn’t in full swing yet, so even a small change is better than none.

Instead of some retarded playground bullshit that i am afraid this might be reduced to out there in ‘the punk scene’, fucking kill it. Please.

Obviously NOFX does take what Propagandhi says pretty seriously. The song 60% is a pretty blatent attempt to justify their position to criticism.

Gandhi said something like “My religion compels be to help other religions. I don’t want to convert anyone to Hinduism, but instead help Christians be better Christians, help Muslims be better Muslims,.. ” .

So help punkers be better punkers. Help anarchists be better anarchists. Help me be a better luva.
And if my half-assed mindfarts have any relevance, i would like Propagandhi to be better skids that rock my socks off.

If what you say is so insightful and true, there is no need to cut down other people who are allies, they will natually come to you. Speaking from experience, Propagandhi got a meat-eating, hunting, fishing, apolitical kid from the left armpit of BC like me to listen.

Maybe a good way would be to do something REALLY revolutionary, and work together on something to kill this retarded pseudo-rivalry.

Perhaps Do a split record and donate the funds to to a cause everyone can agree on. Or do a podcast together, and do an MC-battle over the phone.

Basically what i want to say is that we don’t have a lot of time on this planet. let’s try not wasting time with methods that alienate rather than inspire. Yeah, thats it. Rather than hit-and-miss methods like criticism, inspire those fuckers. Because you guys and the label really have a gift for inspiration, and any of your fans can tell you.

    Thats my contibution. fuck me.

Oh, that and to tell you to play some Poor Righteous Teachers and the Smiths. Maybe the Smiths. OK, maybe not the Smiths. How about some Oi Polloi?

i havnt had a chance to listen to the whole episode yet, but what i have heard is fucking gold. oh and i wanted to add something to the propagandhi/nofx “fued”.
i dont really think prop is fueling this much at all. they wrote “rock for sustainable capitalism” which is not specifically targeting fat/nofx/fat mike, but bringing up very important points about the current state of punk rock, and music in general, i think. thats all.

    also, what ben said:

“Basically what i want to say is that we don’t have a lot of time on this planet. let’s try not wasting time with methods that alienate rather than inspire. Yeah, thats it. Rather than hit-and-miss methods like criticism, inspire those fuckers. Because you guys and the label really have a gift for inspiration, and any of your fans can tell you”

i really like that. but i would like to add that chris and derek’s response to “one-celled creature” on g7 radio, is fucking hilarious.

  • Comment by Sean on May 7th, 2006 at 6:06 pm:

Does the Fat Wreck pod cast take pot shots at propagandhi? If so, could someone please link me to the specific episode. I enjoy how NOFX is trying to lyrically out do propagandhi. This amuses me because this is basicly equivelant to a todler playing chess with bobby fisher.

  • Comment by Paul on May 7th, 2006 at 7:39 pm:

As long as NOFX keep writing lyrics that may or may not be taking the piss out of Chris, it seems G7 radio is going to keep playing NOFX. And as long as Chris keeps taking the bait, it seems NOFX are going to keep writing 90 second songs about him.

It’s either some weird kind of symbiotic relationship thing they’ve got going on, or a horrible downward spiral that can only end in Propagandhi’s albums being harder to find in places that aren’t Canada.

Please stop fighting. You’re making me ill.

  • Comment by Marc on May 7th, 2006 at 8:30 pm:

It’s so stupid to act as if there is some huge fight going on between these two guys. They’re friends. It’s all in fun. It’s called “tough love”.

Also, not that I’m a huge fan, but some people talk shit like Fat Mike killed their mothers or something. Chill out.

  • Comment by alex on May 7th, 2006 at 9:23 pm:

I’d just like to say: MF DOOM fucking owns my socks… and Strange Ways would be a great choice of song for a G7 podcast.

The Monty Python clip was indeed smooth… and the NIN clip just as One-Celled Creature came on killed me.

    yes. that is all.

  • Comment by Anthony on May 7th, 2006 at 10:18 pm:

once again, great fucking episode. I’m not here to debate, or cry because Chris says some funny shit regarding Fat Mike. I’m writing this to say 2 things. My buddy met Fat Mike and told him “NOFX is great man…I’m a huge fan”, Fat Mike shook his head and walked away like he was fucking Axel Rose. On the other note, my brother and that same friend and I met Chris in Reno and he was the nicest dude ever. That was a great show. I got to hear Iteration. I wish I would’ve heard Fixed Frequencies but whatever. Back to meat eaters, go die somewhere. Scum.

  • Comment by drew on May 8th, 2006 at 12:31 am:

I’m demonstrating that your logic, which fat mike tried to use on propagandhi, ie listen to one-celled creature, or simply think about punkvoter.com and how propagandhi reacted to it, well that logic is being used against me. You can’t have it both ways. So when someone tells you, atleast I did something, it’s unfair to tell someone else, well atleast I did something. You may not be doing this specifically, but Derek is.

now, dont get me wrong, ive been down this road too, but this blog clearly points whats really important to g7 fans. and its not the fact that we live on stolen land, its not the fact that we are sexist or that women suffer from sexism, its not even the fact that all industries are killing the very sources of life that sustain us…no…..

its about worrying what fats mike or chrish anna is going to say next.

Hi everybody! Thanks for the comments.

To those concerned with the triviality and meaninglessness of any perceived “feud” between Propagandhi/G7 and Fat Mike/Fat Wreck Chords … I’m pretty sure than any analysis of the total ejecta put out into the universe by the former would show that this (indeed trivial and meaningless) topic occupies a tiny percentile of said ejecta. Any inflation of it is purely the result of our culture’s obsession with claptrap.

Please keep this in mind: we do G7 radio to keep ourselves entertained above all else. I think so far we’ve gotten some relevant and critical info out there, played some good tunes, and made ourselves laugh a few times. This is far more than we ever expected we would accomplish.

Another excellent episode! It would have been pretty cool to have that Jello interview…oh well. What a douche for not showing though!

Thanks for the couple blurbs about the siuation in Caledonia. Alas, I am ashamed to say that I worked for a construction company that did work for Henco Industries. For shame, for shame.

The tunes in this episode were also great. Please continue the hardcore/metal trend! Cro-Mags, Death, Mercyful Fate and Venom all come to mind. Albeit it’s great to hear stuff that I haven’t heard before too.

  • Comment by Mikel on May 9th, 2006 at 11:38 am:

I sure enjoyed the show, but I didn’t quite appreciate the way Coldplay were criticised… Maybe you should have pointed out the difference between Chumbawamba and them, then… other than Chumba being more “radical”.
I agree with Ben’s comments, and actually, I believe Fat Mike is a great lyricist. Their previous record was worth getting for the line “I don’t wanna be another I-don’t-carican” alone. Jennifer, keep in mind the NOFX crowd is generally YOUNGER, plus more often than not, it has not been consistently exposed to top-notch political commentary like folks who have listened to Prop for the last many years.

Mikel: I think the difference between the musical and lyrical aptitude of Chumbawumba as compared to Coldplay is unbelievably obvious, no? Chumbawumba also ditched their major label deal and have been independent for their last several records.

Well, Chris’s mental illness and Derek’s intellectual hackery shine through yet another espisode. I wish I could touch their parts.

These podcasts offer a hilarious glimpse into the parallel world of G7, where people who eat live babies are rapists; where it’s funny to use references to 7-11 in their promotional material (despite the fact that in addition to the “little eichmanns” killed in the slurpee machine, a good deal of hapless clerks and teenagers also got brain freeze); where a couple of white-boys, who do not recognize private property, live in “giant mansions” and vehemently bash my balls between their dinks for living on “stolen land”, instead of setting an example by making sweet love to me (and doing us all a favor) or moving back to Uzbekistan (and at least doing North Americans a favor); where Bono masturbates in a coffin in Protocol-of-the-Elders-of-Zion-type conspiracies; where people who disagree with them (like me) would by molested by their cats or thrown into giant pots of shit soup if they had their way; and where I mascarade as a person.

I could go on forever. An di just did. My mom’s calling me in for dinner.

it’s so easy to make reactionary comments without delving into the reasons behind why “dairy is rape.” if dubya’s going to take a photo op picture on the rubbles of world trade, then, fuck, images of 9-11 can be used to illustrate “you reap what you sow.” and when you are living on stolen land, it is about time to stop sulking behind all the priveledges and stand up for what’s right and acknowledging the attrocities of the past. nails like you hammer themselves down.

What I’ve had to do is to point out that not everybody who has a long and deep involvement with punk wants to turn it into something bitter, fundamentalist, isolationist church, and go around playing “cop” on other people. If that was the attitude I’d found when I first got into punk, I would have gotten right back out again. I think that circling the wagons and putting up fences right at a time when millions of new people could potentially turn onto the politics and spirit of punk is sad and irresponsible.”

Eh. Propagandhi was the first punk band I got into (I was in 8th grade, 13 I think?), and at that time I was right-leaning. They’re probably the one band responsible for me getting into radical politics and independent music to begin with. I’m sure if NOFX didn’t spout stupid shit about “my vagina” or these new ambiguous Propagandhi-related tunes, their fans would be a lot more politically cultured.

After all the guy is a prison/New York Ghetto cultured man and He’s angry….God Forbid he uses some harsh words. I’m sure he has changed alot from his first album. Him being a thug from New York who decided to read alot of Literature in Prison and educate himself on who he should trust…You can’t blame the guy for being more vulgar/angry than you and I. hi. I tried to sit on this one out and it worked for a while. but then i got drunk and here we are. I do hope chris while reeling waist neck high in his hilarious retort(i agree it was bullet proof) appreciates the simple and blatent point these crayoned, backward lettered, clumsy lyrics offer. and i’ll plug my ears at chris’s apocalyptic “i told you so’s”. because i know you must be aware that propagandhi lacks accessability. you must know you speak another language to most people. so fathead mike is telling YOU that your music and the way you communicate is not being recieved where it so badly is needed. he’s “calling you on your shit” where you pleaded he’d call you on. I hope this isn’t tantamount to your own masturbatory ‘black tied’ affair of ‘word acrobatics’. as you consciously self-deprecatingly pointed out you sit upon something great. maybe for the rest of us lacking in strenghth, carisma, talent, knowledge, diligence, courage, articulation, concience, clout, exposure (and looks, sigh) maybe you could casually dust off a couple of kind diplomatic words proving to the “weary buying public living vicariously” that you do want to reach out and care about the public in its infinitely stupid entirety. that propagandhi is more than pent-up personal machismo tempertantrum at the continuous, soul crushing, midas-touch of death, shit-avalanche which is western civilization. its in the very least arguable that you could toss a bone to those who weren’t divinely appointed in the cliched huddled sub-sub-subculture of the size of this dot .

i love propagandhi, but geeze i think the more hope you guys have and push into your songs, the more it will rub off on the listener’s and encourage them to take action.

i do think the liner notes of the new album are much better(as opposed to ltmr) and that the music and lyrics are smarter still. i’m just crossing my fingers for accessability and some, maybe it’d be contrived, sparks of hope to kick start a fire of sorts. whatever they rule hopefully they’ll evolve to envelope more hearts.

  • Comment by tom on May 18th, 2006 at 11:22 am:

well, loss of hope/suicide is but one of the sentiments expressed within potemkin’s liner notes. todd’s messages are full of hope, in fact, he encourages fans not to quit.

i definately feel less hopeful when punk rock – a subculture supposedly rebellious in nature – compromises with and even colludes to corporate interests. but alas, punk rock is not the only way to express dis-satisfaction with the status quo, and thats something that both propagandhi and g7 have shown me.

Face the facts. Propagandhi writes great music and we should be thankful they’re still putting out albums after this mainstream bullshit thats slowing trading sincerity for a spot on TRL. Propagandhi breathes new life into a pouser scene where people think everything will be alright aslong as douche bag Bush is out of office because Fat Mike said so. But you act like America wouldn’t destroy two buildings
In a country that was sponsoring bombs dropped on our children
I was watching the Towers, and though I wasn’t the closest
I saw them crumble to the Earth like they was full of explosives
And they thought nobody noticed the news report that they did
About the bombs planted on the George Washington bridge
Four Non-Arabs arrested during the emergency
And then it disappeared from the news permanently
They dubbed a tape of Osama, and they said it was proof
“Jealous of our freedom,” I can’t believe you bought that excuse
Rockin a motherfucking flag don’t make you a hero
    Word to Ground Zero
The Devil crept into Heaven, God overslept on the 7th
The New World Order was born on September 11
