Our friend Travis (formerly throat-piece for Malefaction) sent this link over today to a clip of British MP George Galloway discussing the Israel/Lebanon crisis and Hizbollah on the Fox-owned TV network SkyNews. Although I can’t really get behind what could sound like an actual endorsement of an extremist religious organization called “God’s Army”, he makes some fucking-A points and no bones about the bias he sees in the mainstream coverage of the war.

Galloway, despite his many flaws, is a shining example of what we no longer have here in the US of A (where I live): he is an intelligent, well-spoken, well-informed, passionate man who isn’t afraid of a fight.
Even when he’s wrong, he’s not wrong in that retarded “with-us-or-against” George Bush way. You can still respect his position.
…And when he’s right, he’s just fucking right.

I had to watch it twice. I’m not ashamed to say. Although I can’t support Hezbollah it is tottally impossible to deny that they wouldnt spring up as a consequence given the conditions. I don’t mean to come along and burst everyone’s bubble here, but George Galloway is no messiah of the left.
He gets a lot of exposure here as the “voice of the left” and considers himself a mouthpiece for British muslims, nevermind applauding Saddam Hussein’s “courage, strength and indefatigability” and generally being an embarrassment.
Most of what he says in this is fair enough, and its good that *someone* with these views actually gets exposure on a propaganda channel like SkyNews, but a loaded “socialist” who refuses to critique a religious army, renowned more for his disastrous reality tv stunt than his politics? Seems a bit sinister to lil old me.
Maybe I’m just biased.

I’m all for reinventing the English language to make it less inherently sexist but come on man, at least let me paraphrase Team America World Police.
And seriously if you get to know me I come off as sexist against men to most people I know. I really don’t see a huge amount of sexism in the phrase “you’ve got balls” I guess I’ve just mentally disassociated it from the things hanging, ever so gently, between my legs.
I use it in everyday conversation to refer to both men and women. It’s become like saying “fuck” all the time, not really connected to the act of fucking, just a phrase.
If it offends you or anyone else though I will gladly stop using balls as a synonym for courage. However I will still shout from the highest rooftops that I love balls… just in general.

Now that we have news of the possibility of this being a pre-emptive strike , the Israelis grabbed on the opportunity and been able to make the capture of the civilians seem as the sole cause of the conflict.
The reporter displays Israel as only being on the defence , and allowing u.n diplomacy, but just because there mabye a bit of flaws , within hezbollah , wouldn’t mean that Israel is innocent.
This is just two walls , consisting of shit , crumbling upon the lebanese people.

And i hope Israel gets more than a slap on the wrist, from human rights orgnaizations .

Although he does make, and has continually made good points, it’s a shame that George Galloway is an almost shameless self publicist. As this is known by most of the politically aware public and media in the UK it is to his detriment when he does seem to take the side of extremists, or even crawl up dictators’ arses (i.e. Saddam Hussein) as he is easily ridiculed (along with the right wing) by political satirists from all angles. There’s also the Big Brother appearance, as mentioned by my compatriot above, which shines light on his hidden agendas. However, pretty much all of the points he makes in the Sky News interview are good points and he does, more than adequately, challenge the reporter. Look forward to seeing Propagandhi over here in a few months, I’m fucking buzzing my tits off.
