So…it’s probably a good dVd.
Nice job making a dVd.
You guys at the G7 Welcoming Committee are going towards interesting media choices for your releases (the phasing out of cds, the phasing in of mp3s, a dVd). eBooks are right around the corner. Those are great. An eBook about the dVd would be a silly thing to make. An eBook transcript of your Radioshows would also be fairly silly, yeah, a little pretentious, but maybe it’s the next step.It would be interesting to hear your collective comments about that idea, but no pressure…no. No pressure. Comfort…
Again, dVd? Very nice, very very nice. It was new, and it hasn’t been done by your label before…
You guys are great. You do such interesting things with media…and the ideas…well, I’m not the first to say this, but, top-notch. And I’m not just saying that. No, no way, I would NOT just say something like that without seriously considering the impact of that statement. I’m not without merit! Which is the summarizing point of this text: merit. Your label gets it.
So…to Meritocracy!
Comment by tom on April 25th, 2007 at 2:22 pm:
yeah, i definately support a move to ebooks as well. not only would it be historically consistent regarding g7 policy towards enviromentally friendlier methods of diseminating informations, it would also be sexy and hi-tech.
having said that, will there be a digital release of this award-winning documentary? this would also make common sense, although i wonder what complications would arise regarding the legalities of digitizing the two documentaries included in the (shrinkage heavy) package.
i must commend peepeegandhi for including these documentaries along with their evening of sweating and farting (regretably omited) and cringing.
the educational value to this thing is enormous, especially for fucking retards like myself. just this morning, local mainstream talk radio brought up the story of BBC reporters possibly boycotting Israeli products and services, mentioning all the while that Israel is “retaliating” against palestinian “attacks”. so, it’s not just the american mainstream media that contributes to media analyses which permiate and defend an illegal state and an oppresive, brutally violent, destructive apartheid, and these genocidal policies.
my only criticisms are that there is no farting what so ever. this fact alone compelled me to pummel my own testicles with my own fists. i thought i had wasted my hard earned money- and then i saw D(ouche)-Rock and heard the hilariously inane commentary, i thanked baby jesus himself.
“where buisness people would stab people with pens”.what a humurous comment.
my second critism is that poor old beaver is once again tyranically excluded from a release of this minitude.
it would be interesting to hear comments from those who are currently blockading (reclaiming) Grassy Narrows. It’s a shame: on beachface’s and my trip, we were a mere 100 or so from this place, but we didn’t visit. i think it would’ve been inspiring to be there and pay up some well deserved solidarity. but “someone” can’t control her bladder.
and finally it would be really nice to see how much cashish is actually given to these trajically important organizations. i wonder how much these organizations would benefit, i mean, it would be really nice to hear that this thing made a difference (however small it may be). even if it’s spiritual.
Comment by D-Rock on April 25th, 2007 at 2:34 pm:
Tom: Digital releases of high-video are still very hard to do - the file size would be unreasonably massive.
As far as fundraising, we’re hoping the DVD - in its first (and possibly only) pressing will scribble up some $5000 for each group.
Regarding eBooks - I think it’s a good idea, but the execution ain’t there yet. Ever read an entire book on a screen? Rough. I do love audiobooks though. I “read” the entire Mars Trilogy that way!
Comment by LJ on April 25th, 2007 at 2:57 pm:
Fucking awesome DVD guys. I especially liked the documentary about Grassy Narrows and the John Elmer photo presentation. Very informative stuff. They both hit home with me… in terms of the systematic destruction of areas of wilderness, and a view from the ground in Palestine (a passion ignited in me by Tanya Reinhart, whom I hold in very high esteem).
There were 2 possible outcomes for the “live” section. I thought it could either be 1) A single shot from the back of the venue (yawn) or 2) A multi-angle venture which brings you directly into the thrash.
It was defiantly #2! The fact that it isnt totally pro means it makes it more real (see: bad religions new dvd). I felt like I was there! Kick ass. And awesome live sound too.
Angry Derek is very funny.

Comment by s. quinoa on April 25th, 2007 at 5:34 pm:
Whoa, did you guys actually record commentary through the length of that entire show? That’s commitment to the project. “Go DIY!”, and also “Go anyone who actually watched all of that!”
The docs and photo presentations alone warrant coughing up the cash for this thing, though, in all seriousness, so thanks.
And although pressing play to immediately hear eton harris’s voice saying “sweet beer!” was a little much for me, all in all it was precious to see a bunch of shirtless winnipeggers getting their hometown pride on. keep up the good work.
Comment by Anthony on April 26th, 2007 at 12:13 am:
The DVD is fucking awesome and I dig the FBI warning, hahahahha. I appreciate the work you guys put into the video. That FBI warning was the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. I want to burn it for my friend, but he wants to buy it to support the cause. Good thing, otherwise I would be serving 5,000 years in jail.

Umm I was just wondering what you thought about my previous comments about not being able to buy a envirofriendly, sweat-shop free, vegan dvd player.. So how am I supposed to play this thing without feeling bad?
Or did you intend me to watch it with some mcdonalds in hand?
Anyway I haven’t seen it yet pick the crap thing up tomorrow.
I’m going to convert it to vinyl and play it on my handcrafted 1968 turntable. Which is also what I am currently surfing the web on.
ALSO DERCOCK HAVEn’t you heard of Blu-ray or HD DVD technology?? They hold up to 50GigaBytes.. or you could have hosted the video files online… I will be… once i’ve converted it to vinyl i’ll host it on youtube and a bittorrent site ;)

For starters… ¡POOOOSEURSS! Well… not really, just URSS.
I Liked the Docu’s, however the Israeli PR campaign is something very well exposed in the PeacePropagandaPromised video, I STILL don’t really understand what the fuck the US and Israel are spending over a 100 Billion US$ for… I mean, ¿What occult interest could reside in the colonization of the Gaza Strip the West Bank and fascist cops yeah? I don’t think it’s really worth it, nor do the palestians no doubt. ¿Is it for their water? ¿To inflict terror in the muslim-states towards western opresors? ¿To have total control of the holy lands mentioned in the Torâ, the Bible and the Koran? ¿All of theese things put together?
You know there are conspiracies talking about the unification of global religions through obscure and ancient text’s unifieng the founding fathers of theese 5000 year old religions and Jerusalem seems to be the target for the new spiritual capital of the world.
Nazionists. Fuck their intelligent.
Comment by tom on April 26th, 2007 at 9:29 am:
i also think the commentary is not unlike some good old Mystery Science Theatre 3000. “Mitchell” or something. All that was missing was the theatre graphics: the seats and heads that supercede the actual screen. Anyone remember those movies?
Also, I just did the math. You stated that you intend to raise 5000$ for each group. There are 2 groups, therefore, the sum of your goal is 10,000$.
If we are paying 15$ per copy, this would divide out to 666 copies. Wow. What a coincidence.
Comment by Belinda on April 26th, 2007 at 2:11 pm:
I haven’t bought it yet because I’m waiting

The DVD’s great…I got it pretty quickly too considering I live in NY and I paid for the cheapest shipping. But the more I watch it, the more sad I get that Propagandhi doesn’t seem to plan on coming to New York anytime soon. Seriously…they need to come here. NOW.

I didn’t get my DVD yet, damn it. No, it’s ok. I can wait.
This question is out of place, but maybe you guys and gals can help me out..Does anyone know much about Dennis Kucinich? He’s running for preseident, though I doubt he’ll make any impact. I’m sure he’s a douche bag liar like just about ever other politician, but he has some progressive ideas and is vegan. Kinda cool. Anyone have any opinions? Thanks.

Just got mine today. I’ve only watched a bit but it seems pretty well put together; surprisingly a bit more “pro” than I expected. And the sound is better than I expected. The documentaries look great too. I’m sure I’ll have something more substantial to add once I’ve watched the damn thing. GOOD STUFF.
This is the closest I’ll get to seeing Propagandhi live, probably, so that’s sweet too.

1. is there such a thing as a vegan, sweatshop free dvd? no, i don’t think so. i think you’ve lost your mind. what i really don’t understand is why you’re trying to take this up with g(oof)7 and not the makers of these things. have you released any dvd’s? are you really fat mike under disguise? no?
in any case, your accusations are quite reminisant of that time you blamed kellogg’s after you had swallowed a whole ex-lax bar, drank 2 huge coffees, and purposely got yourself got in a traffic jam. man, did you ever stink!!!!
2. and as you blame these people(?) for creating waste while trying to encourage less of the same, you yourself have undertaken a brilliant plan of converting this waste to vynil, in turn creating more waste. fuck, now i’m confused.
we love you poo!

This whole thread is making my legendary impatience even worse. I struggle to wait for potatoes to cook, nevermind dvds to arrive.
Sebas, i have indeed seen it, lots of times… it seems when any fucker wants to fundraise they either arrange a screening of that, or a similar docu about the coup in Chile that got rid of Allende… i think its called The Other Septemeber 11th? Both are quite good, and Inside The Coup [along with a mutual reverence for Father Ted reruns] changed my view of RTÉ from “piece of shit broadcaster” to “piece of shit broadcaster with the odd good program”. Incidentally, is there anything more irish than a sitcom solely about priests who say feck a lot?
Peace, Propaganda and The Promised Land is indeed infuriating viewing. There are actually a huge bunch of things worth watching, mostly on Google video, about the situation in Palestine. I have a whole list of them somewhere, when i get back home i’ll see if i can find one particularly devastating [but informative] one and link y’all.
Also, anyone interested in hearing a young Palestinian’s perspective could do far worse than checking out the awesome music at rammallahunderground.com. Look out for songs with Paracat - the best thing to come out of england since.. well.. ever - for English lyrics.
I have a reaaaaally good book to recommend too, but again, its at home.
I was just recently informed that the tram line that runs through Dublin [previously a source of almost perverse pleasure for me and my lazy bum] has links to a similar such line planned for linking up the settlements in Palestine. Seriously.

I’ve yet to order this DVD, but I will do that soon (or just buy at the upcoming Chicago show?).
Anyhow, thought I haven’t seen the Propagandhi DVD, I did want to comment on “Peace Propaganda and the Promised Land” and say that it’s very informative and a great resource about the conflict. I thought the segment about the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions was especially touching.
To anyone who has not, check out the films, “Palestine is still the Issue” and “Tragedy in the Holy Land.”
On a related note, has anybody been following the whole Dershowitz and Finkelstein thing? Ridiculous.
Lastly, to anyone who will be attending (or playing?) the GFK/Hiretsukan/Propagandhi show in Chicago on the 25th, I suggest a positive and animal-friendly dining experience at the Chicago Diner on Halsted.

Comment by Yaniv on April 29th, 2007 at 12:08 pm:
For someone who has yet to see the Propagandhi boys, I thought it was a great performance, worth every penny I payed for.
True, the show is set in the pre-Protemkin era (hence no Beaver). But I liked the set list, and the “early incarnations” of Name and Address Witheld and Superbowl Patriots sounded excellent live - perhaps even better than in the record.
The two documentaries included are poignant and ever-relevant to issues of indigenous rights and self-determination of peoples around the world. As for the picture gallery, Elmer’s does a great job in capturing the bleak, grim realities of living under brutal repression and illegal occupation; Shledewitz’ opened my eyes to the ongoing Grassy Narrows blockade, especially for someone with a vague idea of contemporary indigenous struggles in Canada.
I enjoyed immensely the commentaries portion of the DVD. It’s G7 radio, only with a visual concomitant that made it richer and funnier. I laughed throughout the whole part while listening to Chris and Derek blathering about their and reminiscing the origins of propagandhi songs.
My only criticism of the recording of the show was the disproportionate use of one of the three cameras used. Don’t get me wrong, I thought Chris’ editing of the DIY footage was superb. But I do think, in all honesty, that most of the footage is seen from the left-side camera, far from Todd and even more from Jord. One of the other cameras used, the one from what appears to be some guy in the middle of the front row, was of much better quality. I just wish it would have been used more frequently throughout the editing of the show.
I thought it was a great DVD, especially from one of the most important, original, unique bands out there. Hands down - Propagandhi, as a band, bears tremendous influence on countless minds. Not only in the aesthetic appreciation of the music, but also in raising social and political consciousness with great candor and boldness.
Amazing job, guys.
Oh, yes, you’re not alone, Derek: Ska is a trend that must be eliminated

I don’t think a switch to E-books is entirely necessary, at least not just yet.
Recycled paper and non-toxic ink are currently prohibitively expensive for commercial printing [not to mention scarcely available] but hope makes me believe that it will become cheaper. I think a lot of people are willing to pay extra, although some of the quotes for funding 500books are insane. [which actually makes me wonder how on earth the boys managed to pull off a fundraiser with recycled paper without losing a fuck of a lot of money themselves]
Home-printing is a good deal cheaper but a big undertaking and much less glamourous. Perhaps the two [e-books and self-publishing] could be combined in some way.
Reusing is still better than recycling, but if the choice is between getting important ideas out to people via books, or not getting them out at all, I stand by my intellectual snobbery and root for recycled, physical books.

Hello! Dumdiddee here–fresh out the joint!
i now offer you my review:
- the sound ruled
- the filming wasn’t ideal but it served the purpose (although, to be fair, my judgment on this might differ from others cuz i was hoping for lots of close-ups on chris’s guitar fretboard to figure out what he was doing)
- Hopper’s singing was pretty fuckin good!
- the two supplementary documentaries complemented each other well. It’s sometimes hard for people to comprehend the plight of native americans. i mean i grew up carrying “how the west was won” lunchboxes to school fer god’s sake!) but the doc on palestine really helps to put it all in perspective.
- i am convinced chris is shooting roids. How else does someone pushing 40 get so muscular all of a sudden???
overall, it was pretty good and i think its better that they put it out than not put it out.
oh yeah, it was a great primer for the real-life performance i shall soon witness! i was really surprised they would come back to my city at all. A jaunt through open plains has to be considered a working tour. Not to mention the first time they came an all-out riot broke out at the venue before they had a chance to play. The second time they played was on Sept 10, 2001.
I’m kinda worried about them.

I tried it.. was a vege 4 many years before also.. ate exactly the way “they say” and I’m telling you .. you can’t acheive elite athleticism or gain muscle to your full potential on a vegan diet, sorry..
so show me the mike mahler…etc..etc.. minority webpages now won’t you? yes there are like 9 or 10 webpages of ppl claiming they’re at their best on a vegan diet but theres a reason theres only like 9 or 10 and a list of maybe 100 ppl (given percentage of athletes.. maybe 0.000000000000000000001% vegan) world wide.. and thats cuz it doesn’t work.
Theres a reason that massive sporting institutions don’t put all their elite athletes on vegan diets.. and thats cuz it doesn’t work.. and no don’t go on with some hippie story about how the meat industry are at these institutions and the players houses with their butcher knives threatening to cut off their balls if they don’t advocate the meat and dairy industry..
it sucks but its the way god designed u.. put up with it lamer.

d00b, i’m sorry but i find this “i tried veganism” and “i didn’t get muscle to my full potential” so trust me “you can’t achieve elite athleticism on a vegan diet” to be a pretty weak syllogism. Especially when the evidences showing the contrary are to be found everywhere.
Indeed, vegan athletes are certainly a minority, and it’s probably true that the “massive sporting institutions don’t put all their elite athletes on vegan diets”.
But who gives a fuck about “elite athletes” anyways? Most of them are probablly nothing but egotist cynical roid-heads, whose pathological greed for fame (and money) finds an equal only in that of the captains of the sportswear industry (AKA slave-owners), media magnates (AKA new Goebbels), and bullshit politicians (AKA bullshit politicans) of which they make the fortune and fame.
And who the fuck would want to gain muscle up to one’s “full potential”? As far as i’m concerned, i’ve got better things to do.

HAAHHAHAH.. I love making the vegans angry.
and boy do the vegans get angry easily due to the lack of naturally occuring B vitamins in their diet.. which they try and supplement artificially….(LOL Alec Baldwin anyone??)Yessssss.. .. Yess Thats right.. get angry vegans. GET ANGRY “Hurry up Dickweed”.

“naturally occuring vitamins”? You just make yourself sound like more and more of a shmuck everytime you post something.
I hope you die of heart disease in a couple of days. The world could do without dick mouths like yourself. “D00b”.

Now I get it! Oh that’s so cliché!! Basic psychology! People, our funny friend d00b is just pissed cuz he has a small wiener!
Relax, dude, i don’t believe there’s any other phallocrat posting here, so let’s just declare you the winner of this ‘argument’ and put an end to it right now! You’ve had us all skinny veggie PC faggots, with your brilliant rhetoric and massive biceps!
Congrat’s my friend!

People, people: please, everyone chelax here. Let’s try to keep any discussion in the particular thread reasonable.
Their is a time and place to make fun of people’s tiny dinks (Derek’s house mostly), but it is not here.
There is a reasonable discussion to be had somehwere in here about culture, ethics and health. Should it be here in the thread about a DVD? i don’t know. I mean sure. Go ahead. Or don’t.
Hey I’m only 36! That ain’t pushing 40. Behold the ravages of time and unchecked late mid-20’s to early 30’s binge-drinking.
Let that be a lesson to you. Don’t drink.

i’m almost positive that the ostensibly 2 party “violent” debate above is actually a window into one man’s feverishly conflicted mind. Or maybe someone’s just really bored.
Chris… on your site yesterday you said were 37 and here you say you’re 36 so i just wanted to thank you for clearing up the confusion regarding your age. I guess i’m 4 or 5 years behind you (depending on how you look at it) so i feel your pain.
Just looking at Jord makes me feel old though. Yikes. Too much bathtub grade meth?
I was actually going to bring a date to the upcoming prop show but I decided that might not be wise cuz Jord will probably be embarassing. My date would be all like, “this is the band you’ve been raving about?? look at that geezer on the drums! i’m so outta here you loser!”.
j/k he doesn’t read this blog, does he?
Comment by kate on May 18th, 2007 at 8:48 pm:
I sure hope not. How rude!
Personally, I’d take Jord over these ‘I have no fucking idea how to play this instrument, but look how pretty I am!’ boys defiling the music scene in my town, and from what I can tell, all over the world.
Don’t get me wrong, pretty boys are deserving of attention, but so are not-so-pretty-but-sincerely-committed-to-playing-awesome-tunes boys, y’know?
I guess we have Vice and NME to thank for convincing half the world that the only requisite for being in a band is looking good in tight pants.

I like Chris’ comment.
Thats why he is the man and he’s in propagandhi. and the rest of you fuck faces can go and have a cry.
How would you know what I put in my mouth.. all I am is a piece of text on a screen to you.. and your getting so worked up about it.

Kate …but he’s also fat. He’s a fat geezer. He’s jolly, he won’t mind!
wait, i just re-read your comment!

You inadvertantly bashed him in your defense of him. I rest my case.
I’m just kidding around. Jord is the best. He’s one of my favorite drummers. And besides, Chris is way meaner than me.
Comment by Anthony on May 20th, 2007 at 1:58 pm:
Warning: Do NOT play baseball with Chris unless you feel like getting knocked out with a flying fastball to the teeth!
“Your (knocked the fuck)outta here!”.
the Prop needs to come back to California so I can be saved from the hundreds of dipshits who think “Wolves in Wolves Clothing” is a “great” “record”.
