National Boss Day

Posted by Chris on 10/19/07 (Shite)

Did you know that last Tuesday (16th of October) was National Boss Day? I saw a sign up near the post-office advertising for employees to buy gifts for their boss in recognition of the day. I laughed thinking it must be some sort of sick joke. Then when i got back to G7 headquarters i realized that my Toronto Maple Leafs calendar was still on September (Matt Stajan was Mr. September). I flipped it over to reveal October and my initial delight (Mats Sundin is October) quickly turned to horror and disgust as i discovered that even my Leafs calendar indicated that the 16th of October is the day where we are to celebrate bosses.

What spineless, Smithers-esque toad of a lap-dog is responsible for this absurdity?

i hope derek got the flowers i sent him.

Seriously, why would anyone like the fucking Leafs?! Just kidding, I’m a Devils fan so I’m sure I’ll get ripped apart for that one. Isn’t every fucking day bosses day? Ughh…..I need a drink now.

at least it is only one day. in the US, EVERY day is boss day! bosses watch over us and make sure the worker bees are making their honey. they keep us safe from terror and guide us toward individualist magnanimity. if we get out of line, like using the “u” word around fellow employees that are susceptible to democratic workplace propaganda, they call the cops. but it is for our own good.

Patricia Bays Haroski registered “National Boss’ Day” with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1958. She was working as a secretary for State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Illinois at the time and chose October 16 because it was the birthday of her boss, who happened to be her father.

Four years later in 1962, Illinois Governor Otto Kerner backed Haroski’s registration and officially proclaimed the day.

Take note of this hilarious little tidbit: Others refuse to observe it because they believe their boss is undeserving of celebration. [citation needed]

Yes it says citation needed. That’s comedy folks.

    Yo Chris, hows it goin?

I don’t really know much about bosses, I worked at Burger King for three days when I was 16, then left and became a vegetarian soonafter. Although that guy was a DICK. Nigel Hart, dear God was he a cock.
ICompletely off topic, I thought people might wanna check this out though, its Chuck D interviewing Sage Francis for his radio show, discussing politics, the cult of celebrity, where hip hops going, corporations involvement, Sages work, spoken word etc. Definatley worth a listen. Click- click the first track.

Wayne Gretzky is the only hockey player I’d say 95% of England have heard of. Unless we’re bringing “The Mighty Ducks” films into the debate.

i know this is unrelated, but i don’t care if the high priests (ha) delete this. i am posting it because i assume people who take part in the g7/propagandhi festivities liked these bands, and one was even on a g7 comp. lance hahn of j church and cringer died at some point recently. maybe even today. i just saw it on the no idea records and fat websites. anyway, if there were more people like lance, and more bands like j church and cringer, then “punk” and “hardcore” wouldn’t suck so much ass nowadays. it might actually be worth the time to go to a show. it’s been awhile since someone i admired died and i paused in disbelief because it actually affected me.

    oh, and fuck bosses.

Sanctions imposed on Iran. Here’s the press release: http://www.treasury....s/releases/hp644.htm

While there still remains no evidence of any nuclear-weapons-grade manufacturing, it seems like the sanctions are relatively minor in that they only target banks and business deals. Can’t say i’m comfortable with the whole thing either, but what can you do?

As if having a better wage than you isn’t enough…

Why’d you have to go and embarass yourself by mentioning the Leafs were your favourite team?

  • Comment by diddee on October 29th, 2007 at 10:42 pm:

Yeah, not to mention his sickeing public display of idol worship for Mats Sundin.

Sundin will go down in history as one of the most overrated hockey players … EVER! And that’s not biased bullshit either. That’s scientific FACT.

    *LOL*

Hmmm. … sounds like a thinly veiled swipe at Chris to me. A tad harsh, no? I mean his insane devotion to the Leafs and Sundin is worthy of open criticism, but to imply that he’s a “drug user” and “celebrates stupidity” is mean-spirited to say the least.

Say what you want about Chris Hanna, but the son of a bitch sure knows how to make music.

    ;)

  • Comment by Dude Incredible on November 2nd, 2007 at 4:15 pm:

I can’t see how that was a swipe at Chris.. As he also pointed out the absurdity dedicated days.
My point was that a day for drug users is as dumb as a boss day or any crappy day invented by Hallmark minded fuckers.
(that was a swipe at hallmark-, and all those lifestyle magazine minded, pastel colored fuckers)

Dude incredible, i was totally joking around. Sorry for any confusion. I actually thought you were somebody else slyly taking a swipe at me. Damn paranoia… hahaha. …

    Good points about Hallmark though…

i’d just like to give a big FUCK YOU to my bosses, and i want to let everyone know here that i will be urinating on their graves while listening to Black Coats and Bandages and farting. i’ll also be laughing and eating vegan sauerkraut.

if i’ve eaten enough bran, i wiil actually shit on your grave, you shitty excuses for human beings.

we give them our power and they give us their crumbs. we polish the floors, they spit on our shine. we stick the full length of the broom up their extremely tight assholes, they die. which makes more sense?
