It’s that time of the month again that everyone hates. Also, it’s come time for another episode of G7 radio. Be honest with us - if these have become too terrible and painful, just tell us. Be frank. Really. Please. We’ve lost all powers of sane and rational judgement.

is this really your last show?

    it should be.

  • Comment by dumdiddee on July 8th, 2006 at 4:58 pm:

Here’s some feedback straight from the heart:

The intro to this episode had me in stitches, as well most of the rest of the banter throughout the hour. “fugazi … i had that once. the doktor had to swab my deck …” Funny shit.

Though the episode lacked the serious, informative content of some of the previous ones, it still kept me entertained and put a smile on my face.

I like G7 radio because it blends humor with serious commentary and discussions about *important* current events while exposing me to new tunes at the same time (music plays a critical role in making life seem worthwhile, and i’m always looking to discover new bands). So as long as you keep doing them i’ll keep listening … provided you don’t start discussing Brangelina, Tomkat and Natalie Holloway.

One last thing not really related to the radio: I have been a diehard Propagandhi fan since I first heard HTCE in the mid ’90s. I can honestly say i would be a different person if not for them. I know there’s WAY more important things in life than tours and CD releases, but with the world as fucked as it is, it’s these little kinds of things that gets me out of bed in the morning and keep me from sinking into deep depression.

That said, i just wish Prop would be less vague and/or secretive about their future plans as a band. I’m pretty sure they have lots of other diehard fans that feel the same way.

    There’s my two-cents.

No! the show MUST go on. honestly, its great no matter what. also, im fucking stoked about the G7 “prehistoric” releases. ive had john’s solo stuff as mp3’s on my comp for years, but remastered will be great… and giant sons!! fuck yea! i checked them out a few months back after reading an interview on punkews.org with chris and LOVED what i heard, ive been wanting to hear more ever since. i definitely understand not wanting to add to the excess of waste and plasic and all that, but something about having the real thing when it comes to albums is so awsome. is there a chance in the world you guys would ever release any of these as cds with artwork and liner notes and all that jazz? gmac’s first album is great too. im glad i snagged one back when you sold them through this site.

exact same for me. i had no idea music was capable of being so powerful and affecting until i heard propagandhi. some of the most honest and sincere music ive ever heard.

  • Comment by Greg on July 8th, 2006 at 5:33 pm:

This show is usually great, but this one wasn’t too great…..it could have been better, but you guys are still genuinely funny. Keep the show going for real…..unless propagandhi is going to tour….that is the only way you should stop the shows.

WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH PROPAGANDHI?!@?

remember when you cancelled in st. louis in september 2001 after 9/11? pretty pretty please? we could use some thrash.

or columbia missouri! that’s even better!

  • Comment by drew on July 8th, 2006 at 5:34 pm:

i promise i wont litter this blog with a million comments, but i had one last thought pertaining to the upcoming releases. did you guys rule out recycled packaging like some of the releases you have put out in the past?

  • Comment by Malcolm on July 8th, 2006 at 6:12 pm:

When are you guys going to play some Razor, huh?

  • Comment by soyuz on July 8th, 2006 at 6:45 pm:

gmac’s first album…oh yes…i’ve been wanting that shit for quite a while now…me so buy it soon. giant sons (of b….guns) gave me some serious musical orgasms (that’s when your eyes start rolling back as you listen to the sonic assault.) me want that too.

ah, nothing intelligible to say. so i guess i go back into hibernation and deep depression that already plagues me until next g7/propagandhi sighting.

  • Comment by dumdiddee on July 8th, 2006 at 7:08 pm:

I have a music request … please keep introducing me to new shit. Why would i request tunes i already listen to?

  • Comment by soyuz on July 8th, 2006 at 7:10 pm:

“…last show, FUCK OFF!” That felt like somebody shoved a dildo up my ass. Fuck off to all the listeners!?

when there’s nothing good to say, don’t say anything at all. ’twas good while it lasted.

heard some good bands that i wouldn’t have heard otherwise.

I think I know what that “T” stands for. It’s not a name of a person. I think the “T” stands for Tour. The spirits are saying “…go on a tour. a fucking tour. a propagandhi tour with hiretsukan and g-mac. with the first show at Denver, CO.”

  • Comment by dumdiddee on July 8th, 2006 at 7:20 pm:

Tour in denver? I just took the revolver out of my mouth.

oh Soyuz, pleazze don’t toy with me like that!

    Now where was i?

  • Comment by Marc on July 8th, 2006 at 7:46 pm:

    Hi.

I love the podcast, and loved the last one as well.

What I always kinda wished was in store, was a more personal side to the guys. I know it’s supposed to be a radio show with political commentary, but it would be nice to know how Chris got so damn good with an axe, how Derek got involved with G7, how I-spy was formed, where Jord’s unrelenting and unabashed flatulence came from..

    …Or not.

Quick question: I’m into hard music..but the screaming stuff you guys play..does that actually sound good to you guys? This radio show opened my ears up to F-minus and Tragedy, which I think are fucking fantabulous now…but you guys play some weird loud unintelligible yelling shit sometimes. I’m totally gunna get lambasted here, so I’m done. :D

    Keep it up.

  • Comment by soyuz on July 8th, 2006 at 7:48 pm:

tweedle dee and tweedle dum, both mile high. who woulda guessed?

  • Comment by dumdiddee on July 8th, 2006 at 8:03 pm:

actually, when i first heard K’Naan i was so blown away with it that i had an existenial crisis or whatever. I looked deep within myself and seriously questioned whether i had completely wasted the last 20 years of my life listening to fast and furious music when i coulda been listening to stuff like k’naan.

that lasted for a couple minutes until i heard the new slayer song. k’naan and the like is fuckin rad at times but screeming metal is what i need.

  • Comment by drew on July 8th, 2006 at 8:43 pm:

when using the ouija board, i’d recommend asking it if it’s a good spirit or a bad spirit, if you can get a response from it. i find it works better with more than 2 people too.

  • Comment by kate on July 8th, 2006 at 9:56 pm:

don’t be so modest, the shows are great. Have you heard any of the ‘entertainment’ podcasts regularly making the top 10 on podcast alley and the like, with their MTV propaganda and their shitty ‘podsafe’ tunes? Just another example of business interests molesting a potentially open and inclusive platform for mass communication…(blah blah, you know the rest)

you boys are one of the few who’ve retained the spirit of DIY pirate radio, and you’re fucking hilarious, so keep ‘em coming! (at least until you get sued)

ps. i love it when you flirt with each other… brings me wonderful dreams (wink wink)

  • Comment by bill on July 8th, 2006 at 9:58 pm:

i dont know if you guys were playing around or it was an audio thing but i swear there was some wierd electronic sounding voice during the seance. listen to it with head phones and you can here it.

as for the show. keep doing it!

  • Comment by Mathias on July 8th, 2006 at 10:31 pm:

“I have a music request … please keep introducing me to new shit. Why would i request tunes i already listen to?”

Totally agree. Ideally there’s a nice mix of metal, punk, hip-hop, and indie stuff.

This show was pretty funny at times, like usual. I don’t know, it was a cool show, strange to have a non-guest show that wasn’t particularly music-loaded.

The seance was stupid IMO, otherwise keep up the great work.

  • Comment by LJ on July 9th, 2006 at 3:11 am:

The show must go on! No matter what you guys do it will not be as lame as the short lived Fat podcast. Besides, you must continue your fieldwork on paranormal “extra curricular” activities… your results are pretty ground breaking!

If you turn up your speakers during the silence in the seance, you can hear a ghostly voice. Kinda sounds like John K Samson…

  • Comment by poo on July 9th, 2006 at 4:37 am:

Haven’t listened to the podcast yet.. on download now..

BUT don’t you just love it how in all of christophs recent interviews he has become such a psychologist.. always talking about “THE GREATER PSYCHOLOGY OF THE PLANET”.. like the planet has some big mind of it’s own. HA. Christoph you are a massive DILDO. I think todd should kill you and jord and start his own solo career. Christoph also seems to be an expert on the sexuality of the dung beetle too. Why a 35 year “old”(vegan) man would come up with stupid remarks about dung beetles I’ll never know.. But we all know now that he likes to edit his message board.. just like the newspapers edit out his so called important sides of the stories.

OMG OMG CHRISTOPH guess what guess what.. news just in “megadeth wife beaters are doing massive damage to the greater psychology of the planet”.. That sucks for you eh buddy EH? EH ? EH ?EH? EH ? EH (”EH” stupid canadian)

I wait anxiously for every G7 Radio episode too. Call me sad, but it keeps me happy, entertained, *and* informed.

  • Comment by Pidgey on July 9th, 2006 at 10:18 am:

You must know how many people download the radio each month, and, assuming that it’s more than 7, I’d keep it going. Yes, this one was…er…a little…well, you know what it was like. But! It was still funny (in a very special way) and the music, as always these past six months, has been excellent.

Heck, if you do stop doing it, just play an hours worth of music each month for us all to listen to. I’ve picked up some great albums from this show.

Otherwise, no. You’re fine. Just a bit weird at times. And *if* you can maintain a conversation about something remotely interesting for more than 12 seconds, it *is* interesting and often informative. Last month’s was pretty good for instance.

Seriously though; who the fuck does a fake Ouija board on the radio? It’s like you want us to stop listening. Put it this way though: I hate almost everything, but I still download your show each month, and usually give it two or three listens – most often when I’m doing the cooking for my lady friend.

    Wootah.

  • Comment by riley on July 9th, 2006 at 10:56 am:

dude, I don’t know if you guys know of this fairly new band from-I think- Delaware, Toxic FUCKING Holocaust, but if not, you should totally check them out! If so, you should totally rip them out on the next episode (I like the song “Dead to the World” personally)……………No, I am not in that band, I just think they rock ass (although I’m sure either way they would love all the free advertising). Actually, better yet Propagandhi should cover them on their next album. -On that note, I would also like to someday hear Propagandhi do a thrash cover of the Ghostbusters theme.

  • Comment by Hairhole on July 10th, 2006 at 2:25 am:

“LET’S HAVE SEX” haha that was a good ‘er. A little bit o wee wee dribbled outta me pee pee on that one: Another beauty intro gentlemyans.

As always, I loved the show. I just didn’t like all the babble about it sucking and being your last one. That shit aint funny. I need that breath of fresh air these shows provide each month. Sooner or later you’re gonna have to come to grips with the fact that these shows sustain those of us searching for compelling tunes and humourous political discussion, and unless you can suggest another poodcast that provides something comparable to your show (or embark on a Propagandhi tour stopping at all of our home towns), we’re not letting you go anywhere. So there!

ummm, hmmm, ok…ya! And about suggesting songs to play, i can see how that seems ridiculous. Contemporary knowledge would have one believe such endeavours should be left up to the professionals (that guy in propagandhi and his musically knowledgeable cohort), but it’s not such a baaad idea. For example, some guy a few message boards back demanded g7 play a band called Leftover Crack. I had never heard of them, so when a friend mentioned them to me I then had heard of them twice, and that’s good enough for this guy; I went out and bought their record “Fuck World Trade” with the killer album cover and have since been rocking out with my drippy dick out. See what I’m saying? Most of the people leaving messages on here seem to know which way the wind blows. And Gord and his love child know I’m always up for some new suggestions in tuneages. So maybe suggesting songs to play isn’t that bad of an idea. It may not be as cool as bashing “whenever John’s ready” and chubby Mike, but then again, what is?

I love you. Don’t leave me. World Peace.

p.s- the weather is about as goood as she’s gonna get here in Canada, don’t hesitate to take g7 radio and Propagandhi on a roady across ‘er. Starting in the bible belt of the fraser valley (Chilliwack), and ending with ’shoving a dildo’ up Harper’s ass on the east coast. It’s just a suggestion, but I hear that doesn’t feel too good. FUCK OFF.

  • Comment by Jon on July 10th, 2006 at 5:28 am:

It’s a cool show. Don’t bother getting rid of it.

  • Comment by Trev...or on July 10th, 2006 at 6:39 am:

Noooooo! You guys gotta keep G7 radio going! What are losers like me supposed to do without it? Where will I get my monthly dose of humor, news and introduction to great music I’ve never heard before (Tragedy, K’naan, ETC)?!

I’ve been into punk and hardcore for all my life and I regret that I only got into Propagandhi about two years ago after reading about how incredibly great they are over and over from Shai Hulud’s guitarist Matt Fox. In that time I’ve fallen in love. I bought all the albums. I worship Chris Hannah’s guitar playing, Jord’s flatulence, and the Rod’s humor. and G-7 radio.

Face it, Propagandhi is one of the most important bands ever. I can’t name many bands that live by or follow the spirit of what I’d consider “punk” or “rock and roll”. It’s a breath of fresh air, really. And given all the horseshit going on in the “scene” and just the music business in generel, Propagandhi’s blatant honesty and message is very well appreciated by myself and others. I’ve had my eyes opened wider to issues involving animal rights, religion, and politics and I know others who feel the same way, or at least respect the hell out of the band for their passionate views, even if they themselves don’t feel the same way.

Propagandhi is a band that in 10, 20, 30 years is going to be remembered for being one of of not the defining band of political hardcore. I know they weren’t the first to do it, but damn if they haven’t been one of, if not the best to combine it all so effectively and impacting.

I’ll shut up now. That’s my two cents. I’d love another tour. Would be my first Prop show. Especially one in Denver…oh yes. There are other people like myself who’s days would be more brighter, productive, and positive with a Propagandhi show.

  • Comment by D-Rock on July 10th, 2006 at 11:14 am:

is there a chance in the world you guys would ever release any of these as cds with artwork and liner notes and all that jazz?

We’ll be posting PDFs of the album art and boklets on our site for free download when these releases launch. But no, no chance of these being re-relased as CDs I’m afraid.

did you guys rule out recycled packaging like some of the releases you have put out in the past?

With a release like Propagandhi’s we can do it, because the volume is high, so it doesn’t totally cripple us financially. But with most releases, we’re barely making it feasible as it stands, and adding more costs would most times kill us unfortunately. Plus, there’s no “eco” option for a polyurethane, benzyne-dipped disc. So we’d like to make as few CDs as possible. Sounds great coming from a record label - ha!

I’m into hard music..but the screaming stuff you guys play..does that actually sound good to you guys?

Yes. Yes it does. There’s no accounting for taste!

i dont know if you guys were playing around or it was an audio thing but i swear there was some wierd electronic sounding voice during the seance. listen to it with head phones and you can here it.

That’s fucked up. I just listened back to it myself with headphones (painful experience for me), and there is something there. We totally missed that when we were bouncing the file. I’m going to have to ask Chris to look into that, maybe some audio glitch or something? It sure fucking sounds like it could be voices. I’m totally freaked out right now.

well, i think it’s sucks that you guys are giving up. producing good radio is indeed a challenge - that you seem to accomplish quite well. i learned a lot from episodes 2 and 3, and the humour thrown in makes it a perfect mix. still a sausage party in terms of music though, i agree with whoever said that.

if anything the audio you guys have put out encourages idiots like me to not necesarily agree with the analyses presented, but to examine it with a critical mind. my own critical mine. and thats more than i can say for most media out there. just look at fatcast and batcast. shameless self-promotion. no, you should keep it alive, you’re the only podcast in this “market” that keeps things relevant, and encourages real resistance.

but isnt releasing computer only releases sligtly classist? i mean, not directly, but youre gonna have to own a computer to get your hands on the latest grub. i understand where youre coming from in wanting to do the least amount of damage in releasing audio, but i think your doing it at a cost of access.

besides- how many of your mp3s end up on burnt discs anyways?

    keep it real- booyakasha!

AND I WANT TO HEAR SOME MORE FARTING GODAMNIT!!!!!!!

did you people also know that it is a miracle that we even have water on this planet? it is theorized that it fell with comets, 3 1/2 billioin years ago. the only reason our planet isnt scorched and cratered like the rest is due to our magnetosphere created by the spinning of our iron core. we take this life for granted.

Let me just say, this morning as I was trolling through the tasks of my meaningless job in my apartment deep in the wastelands of Ottawa, I was listening to CBC radio when on came some pseudo hip chick (supposedly CBC’s ear to the ((under))ground). Broadcasting from Winnipeg, one of Canada’s lost gems of great unknown talent, this complete blithering idiot of a woman filled the airwaves with racist dialogue, and meaningless crap about the goings on in the Winnipeg cultural scene, which I should mention had nothing to do with culture but more to do with pre packaged crap for the masses. At the first mention of the word MuchMuzak (interspersed with numerous “dudes”), I softly shook my head, uttered a cry of despair and attempted to drown myself in a vat of helplessness and futility; taken from the spigot of all that is wrong with society today.

It was then that I saw a glimmer of hope, remembering that a new month was upon us, and perhaps there was a new segment from G7 radio.

I quickly got to the webpage and lo and behold, there it was, sparkling like a gem in a sea of chronic bullshit.

Your show is an effective and enjoyable piece of entertainment, not to mention I have on more than one occasion found a new band that is to my liking. The show with the photographer who had returned from the (re)occupied territories stands out as one of the best, keep it up……or i fear I may lose my sanity.

Keep up the awesome work guys, the show is one of the few things I look forward to. Its nice to know that there are people out there who care about whats happening to our world yet still find fart jokes funny. I thought I was the only one…
The show truly acts as a monthly pick up that helps me refocus on what I can do to create positive change, even if it just means not feeling like the only one.

ooh, the prophecy has come true. a new G7 release!! “Subhumans” I remember they alluded to this release before on the radio show. haven’t heard em yet. These are the Canadian Subhumans the superior product who are not poseurs, as has been claimed. this better live up to hype. hype??

This shit is crazy…I knew Propagandhi was going on tour. BLOGGERS!!! Listen to the end of the episode were Derek and Chris are fucking with the board. Listen to the exact point were Chris says “ok we’ve moved about 4 inches” then listen closely after Derek says “Spirit, does the T stand for something”. About 8 1/2 seconds after that statement and that really quiet voice you hear in the background says “Propagandhi Tour”. No joke, thats what I hear. Check it out…tell me if I’m fucking crazy.LISTEN THROUGH HEAD PHONES

And for the small bit of effort I hope you two (chris and derek) get even a small amount of something back (even if its just boredom alleviation for an hour and a few more hours scouring through the inane dribble of said chuds). keep up the terrible work.

Oh, and I don’t think hawking is at all saying upgrade to a shiny new planet since this one has become…used. Look into those beady souless eyes. He knows something…like aliens have come to squash us, or a big fucking meteoroidoidoid.

and one more thing…I can quell these tour rumours… T is just my dead pet beagle. He probably got lost and wandered away. Don’t worry, he won’t haunt you much longer (but then, he never was too bright…)

Maybe just make the show a half hour, or better yet plan it SLIGHTLY better or edit out some of the dead air. More guests. More skits. More politics. More killer tunes. More fucking confidence. I would already give it an 7 out of 10. honestly.

For the songs bought through third party services (iTunes, eMusic, etc), they will be encoded at whatever bit-rate and format those services offer them at. We can’t control that.

But, for the songs downloaded directly from our website (which is a service we’ll be launching along with those releases, for all of the G7 catalogue), they will initially be sold as 320 kbps MP3s only. We are looking at adding FLAC as an option at some point, but not in the initial launch.

Perhaps you should consider putting effort into the show. Episodes 2-5 were great, because you actually tried to produce an amusing program. I generally look forward to new installments every month. But when you attempt to shit out another show at the last minute just because you feel like you have to, well, the results of episode six reveal the consequences. If you’re going to broadcast a radio show, rock it with every ounce of intensity and grit you can muster up from the cockles of your heart; don’t just fart in a microphone and call it entertainment. Now quit whimpering and start planning for next month’s show.

You guys are taking this ‘last show’ thing more seriously than I think either Chris or Derek are. I don’t think spilling out your life story and sappy shit about how much Propagandhi has changed your life or how this is the only thing that you look forward to in a month’s time really will help. I’d see it as a turn off, actually.

And duh Propagandhi is going to tour. They’re a band (that omg changes pplz’ lives!) that ‘just’ put out a release, and no offense to people on the west coast but I don’t think any touring band would be happy with just reaching out to all the Punk Voters/(I can’t make a generalization about bay-area people so insert your own witty and suitable anecdote here). So stop with your epiphinal pants-creaming subliminal messages that you took straight out of your asses.
    As for the radio show,
    Epilaugh, LOLZ.

Sexy isn’t a ‘political’ band but they’re fuckin’ great. DIY drunken punk rock. If you guys are looking into new bands to listen to, listen to them.

I have the split and Gmac’s first album on soulseek. God bless that program. I currently don’t have a personal computer hooked up to any sort of internet access that should be allowed to download music, but when I do, my username is ‘vagroaches.’ Share your own music and you have full access to everything I have.

Yeah, at several different points of the seance you can hear a faint voice, especially around the 52:29 mark — sounds like “blackout” or “black house”.

At the 53:16, 53:33, 53:40, 53:51, and at 53:59 it seems to answer Chris’ question about what the “T” stands for.

At 54:19 and 54:35 it seems to answer the question about its name. And at about 54:46, when you guys get tired and start talking, it says something in the background.

And at 55:25 when you guys ask, “What was that?” - it definitely said something. Also at 55:41 after the “shiver”.

But, anyways, I love all of the radio shows. They are totally what-not and so-forth and etc.

    Jennifer:

i understand your point how the Prop dudes are probably a little creeped out from overenthuastic fans on their “tip” all the time. Shit, some of the fans probably come off as stalkers.

I must say, however, that i’ve listened to political punk/hardcore for over 15 years, including bands like DK and DOA, and NONE of their messages ever sank in until after i started listening to Prop. Hell, to be fank, i didn’t even really realize that they were political bands i just knew i liked their tunes. I’m sure these bands and others have opened other people’s eyes but I swear i had my head in the sand until i came across Propagandhi. They just awakened something in me. Now i appreciate the lyrics that once meant nothing to me of bands like DK and the like.

Prop have stated explicitly that one of their primary goals with their music is to turn people on to politics and i’d just feel compelled to tell them they’ve succeeded at least with me. In addition to rocking my balls off.

I have *never* even attempted to get in touch with another band before. Plus i think one of the reason they have this blog is to get feedback, positive or negative.

Those duel vocals were infectious. Without Propagandhi’s transition from punk to thrash-ish type stuff, I don’t think I would have had much of an appreciation for harder music. I owe this band a whole fucking lot. ”

ok basically I think the new digital format thing is absolute bullshit. I agree with trying to head towards more environmentally friendly alternatives for music releases. HOWEVER why are you just doing it for small releases that aren’t going to sell very many copies?? and then like say for example releasing potemkin city limits on cd/vinyl…

This is about as realistic as car manufacturers attempts to convince us that they are all for being environmentally friendly.. Like cuz one shitty car that then sell next to nothing of is solar powered or something but then they have 500 other models that are V8 SUV’s LOL.

Good one g7 .. good one.

    All or nothing I say.

and when your deciding which it will be ask yourself this christoph.. ask yourself this.. would you have been happy if Voivods new dvd was a shitty avi which u could download off their website for $98 bux Eh? EH???

Hey poo, as mentioned somewhere above, smaller releases are much harder to put out in cd/vinyl format as it’s too expensive to produce less harmfull materials. With records like city limits, they move a lot of records which enables them to do this. Furthermore, who the fuck ever went to a disco wearing a megadeath top? I’m off to comb my hair.

  • Comment by D-Rock on July 12th, 2006 at 10:28 am:

Poo: first off, environmental concerns are not the only reason we are doing the digital releases. Other reasons include the cost to produce and speed/convenience in releasing them.

We could easily sell thousands of the Samson EP on disc. But we have chosen not to, as we don’t think it neccessarily merits a physical release. The Subhumans record, though, we do feel merits it, even though it is indeed a smaller release (though hopefully not!).

In the long run, digital creates less waste, and it is indeed where we are moving eventually.

Dumdidee - yeah, I realize that too. I owe Propagandhi a whole lot myself, actually (as evidenced by bits trying to point out some hypocrisy) - but to tell them in such a frank manner, as through a blog to convince them to do something that they probably aren’t seriously contemplating is … just weird.

And as for what I said previously, I said that to validate a point I made in rebuttal to someone else, not to impress or otherwise make someone feel awkward.

to G7 - if costs are a problem next time you look into releasing a release, I suggest you look at http://www.bellwethermfg.com/. A lot of DIY labels use this to manufacture their CDs. Most of those labels sell their CDs for around $5, and still get away with making a profit. As for the plastic jewel case shit that are of most CDs, why not use plastic bags? http://www.bagsunlimited.com/ They probably are still somewhat deletorious to the environment (but then again what isn’t? I’m pretty sure digital downloads are in some case aswell) but still significantly cheaper.

  • Comment by tom on July 12th, 2006 at 3:48 pm:

first and foremost, we all live lives based on unsustainable lifestyles. the only thing we can do is reduce our impact on the environment. just as we can reduce labor exploitation by switching to sweatshop free clothing as much as possible. attempting to point out “hyprocrisies” becomes an excuse for inaction and complicity. i’ve often meet people who try to discredit me in a similar sense when they realize i’m vegan.

so the point is digital releases are a good thing. it does eventually reduce even to a minimal degree waste production.

by the way, anybody infuriated as i am to the most extreme degree by what happened to 14 year old Abeer Qasim Hamza. it’s been weeks and it gets more and more infuriating by the minute. i’m for sure not “mourning dead Americans, the executioner’s willing citizens.”

Of course, that takes planning and time (i don’t know how busy it is over there), but i’m sure you could pick one central topic per show, and play relevant music the whole show, not just one or two songs. Like one on Native issues, get a guest speaker in there, and play some First Nations hip-hop or something.

  • Comment by dumdidee on July 13th, 2006 at 10:27 am:

i think the digital releases is a great idea and i think G7 will set a great example to other labels by implementing it.

I remember someone on this blog saying something about digital releases being “classist”. I can see this point at first, but if you follow that line of reasoning then g7 should release everything on cassette too since not everyone has been able to afford to pick up a cd player yet.

I would venture to say that if someone out there has absolutlely no access to a computer, not even indirectly through a friend or library, then they probably don’t have access to a cd player either. And people in these situations probably have a lot of more pressing issues to worry about (like shelter and sustenance) than listening to music.

hey, just read “mr. lamberts” post on the Prop site. i think an added point would be that israeli policies sadly have lots in common with the third reich, too.

From what i understand their marriage and citizenship laws are not much different from the Nurenberg race laws. They treat the Palestineans pretty much like the germans treated the slavic peoples in their drive for “liebenstraum.” Israelis officials also seem to think that the life of one israeli is worth hundreds of palestinians as evidenced by the severity of their “retaliations”. The nazis annihilated all the inhabitants of the Czech village of Liddce as payback for the assassination of that exemplar of pure evil, “hangman” Heydrich.

if costs are a problem next time you look into releasing a release, I suggest you look at … As for the plastic jewel case shit that are of most CDs, why not use plastic bags?

Jennifer: it’s not just the actual cost per CD - we pay a similar price to what it looks like the company you suggested offers - it’s everything else that goes along with it - shipping, warehousing, cuts from the distributor, then from the store, returns, etc, etc. These things added to the manufacturing cost can leave us with thousands of dollars in bills that simply do not exist in a digital release - let alone (again) the use of raw materials, garbage, fuel consumption in shipping, etc.

and i still don’t know how g7 will release this without requiring credit cards for us credit-challenged people.

Tom: we will be accepting PayPal, which you do not need a credit card to use. A computer and internet connection, however, will be neccesary.

While that may be true, remember that Giant Sons are not a band anymore, and as such cannot tour- this makes it much more difficult to sell cds, and I can sympathize with G7, who would likely be stuck with a big pile of plastic after all is said and done. The fact that they are putting it out at all, given that the band has been broken up for three years and hardly saw any widespread popularity, is pretty wicked if you ask me. Just a thought.

I realize you mean this as a sort of revenge for nazisim/anti-semetism, and in this way it is more of a logical choice than palestine, which had absolutly nothing to do with the holocaust/European Judeaism, but that still would have left everything just as fucked up. I honestly think that the absolute best option would have been to create a Jewish state in half of Saskatchewan, or as a second option maybe Iowa. This land would be ceded, with many provisions, land-lines around reservations, compensation to those who live there to move away, or maybe perks of citizenship if they stay. Saskatchewan’s population is decreasing anyways and has a miniscule population density. The land is not ours to give, it was stolen but since it does not seem that we whites were willing to give it back, it may as well have gone to a people who were also dispossessed. Plus the people who currently live there would certainly feel just as ast home in Manitoba or Alberta, especially if compensated…I mean what is canada but a place for those with no home?

I hope we can meet in person soon. I stuck my fist in my ass as you advised and it felt absoultely delightful. The only downside to the experience was that I might of blown out an o-ring. Oh well, thank god for diapers!

I also spilled some serious seed today. Beat off no less than six times with a belt tied around my neck. Still feel a bit drained and light-headed from the last round, but i think i can go for another …

OH SHIT. I’m posting this on the wrong blog again! Sorry people!

  • Comment by tom on July 15th, 2006 at 6:39 pm:

yes, i am actually posting as no less than 17 different people. if you can guess them all i will provide sexual services for 8 minutes.

i’d say again that g7’s decision to end their part in the fashion and glamour world, as well as their idea to release digital media, is pretty much the equivalent of punching consumerism right in the fucking face. and nicking him…

pidgey i totally 100% agree with you and understand where you’re coming from. there are only 14 comments on that thread…

just curious- is your server having problems? i’m just having a little trouble downloading radio episodes (although it may just be a little problem with my browser).it just never really takes that long to download stuff like that. just thought i’d ask…………..fix it or i’m getting a lawyer

  • Comment by rf on July 17th, 2006 at 1:54 pm:

the server does seem a tad slow, compared to previously (given, I am on the wrong side of the Pacific, but it seemed a damn sight quicker before)

as for the radio shows, keep producing them!
They are most humourous, and educational too. (esp the Haiti one)

am most excited about the mp3 reissues, esp Greg Macpherson.. any chance of teasing the “Year of the Record Break” cassette out of him as well? :-) Can I also humbly suggest you(se) look into variable bit rate (VBR) MP3 compression and various other settings?
    http://www.hydrogena....php?showtopic=28124
might be a good start. I only say this after compressing a fair bit of music myself, and the VBR sounds great while keeping the file size manageable.

Sorry to nerd out, but hey.

well, you shouldn’t have a hard time finding something to talk about for next month’s show!

how about an advance and make an episode immediately about israel/lebanon?

  • Comment by dumdidee on July 17th, 2006 at 6:15 pm:

well, i must say that the song “fixed frequencies” suddenly makes perfect sense when one tries to think of ways to quell the conflict in the middle east.

Americans and Canadians really can’t say shit to the Israeli’s w/o looking like complete hypocrites. “We want nothing more than what you already have: a conquest so complete …”

After WWII who could blame jews for wanting their own homeland? But to take someone elses who had no involvement in the holocaust?

Seems to me the only way anythings gonna get reconcilled over there is if both sides abandon their religion and ethnic pride and completely embrace secular humanism. Yeah?

  • Comment by dumdidee on July 17th, 2006 at 6:22 pm:

    It’s a deadly conundrum.

  • Comment by Pidgey on July 18th, 2006 at 7:34 am:

dumdidee, I’m moving to the fucking moon after this one. I think I give up on any notion that the human race is going to OK.

    Unfuckingbelievable.

    Ta ta.

Just read bits’ idea about a jewish state Saskatchewan. Wonder if they would have been amenable to that idea post 1945? The U.N. really stuck an unconsented fist up the palestinian 5-hole in 1948.

I was thinking that in addition to Canada Austrailia also has large tracks of land available for settlement for those who prefer warm weather.

Yeah Pidgey, I think i’m losing my grip too.

  • Comment by tom on July 18th, 2006 at 12:10 pm:

dumdidee- i don’t know if religion is the only motive in the recent escalation of violence. israel has become a military behemoth which lacks restrain. they’re clearly using hezbollah and lebanon as examples: if you fuck with us, we’ll destroy you.

i’d definately throw land aquisition in as a motive, but a soldier being kidnapped is just an excuse for israel to go balistic. pun intended. it looks like this is the chance they’ve been waiting for.

and as for canadians being hippocrites, well, i definately think that the government in this case, is justifying genocide as well-mannered self-defense. i dont think that all canadians necesarily agree with the maggot birthing shitpile that is our prime-minister. piss on his grave.

it’s our responsibility as citizens to inform our elected “representatives” that we think this is bullshit. if we turn a blind eye, then we also condone colonial genocide.

“we want nothing more than what you already have: the myth of an empty land and a conquest so complete, that we can pull these tanks from our streets and, hand the loose ends over to bureaucrats and become just like you:” da na na na naaa da na na na naa…

Actually, you know what really gets the acid dripping in my gut and makes my head feel like its about to explode? The fact that Bush is so ready to sacrifice innocence as collateral damage for what he thinks is the greater good, as well as executing the mentally impaired, but then at the same time talks about a “culture of life”. That motherfucker promises his first ever veto on a stem-cell bill being passed in congress cuz he thinks experimenting with stem cells is murder.

My mind just can’t handle much more of this kind of “reality” that i used to think was only found in the twilight zone.

I saw Giant Sons play with Propagandhi 3, maybe 4 years ago at the west end, and the Giant Sons were really really good. Ever since that day, the one remaining Giant Sons cd at music trader on osborne has been haunting me cus im too cheap to spend the 20$ bucks or whatever it is to buy it….

and now that i’ve posted this its probly not gonna be there. oh well

  • Comment by rj on July 22nd, 2006 at 10:06 am:

It’s not $20 for the cd- only $12 at the most, as I recall. And I’m pretty sure they actually have a couple in stock, though I could be wrong.

Well if you just want the regular releases on vinyl, I think they’re all still available at normal LP prices from Suburban Home.

Who cares about collector’s items anyway? Oh yeah, everyone.

    Yawn.

hey I always look forward to your episodes! I was looking forward to the July episode…even though I had to deliver a huge 10 minute speech in july I kept reminding myself don’t worry july won’t be bad just think that there is another G7 episode coming. It seriously was the reward after my speech. I owe you. thanks. Please make one for august!

  • Comment by Aaron on July 29th, 2006 at 11:28 am:

Abolishing religion wouldn’t solve the problem, hatred runs deeper than just argueing over who’s invisible friend is bigger. Isreal is fucking insane right now and that has nothing to do with them being Jewish.

Seriously I think some of you are overestimating the power of secularism right now, if everyone over there was magically athiest tomorrow they’d still be tossing bombs at each other. It’s politics and hatred, not and the perversion of religion, not religion itself that is to blame. That’s just one of the many ways that leaders can control the masses, take it out of the equation and it won’t change much at all except take hope from the hopeless.

Sorry if I’m coming off as overly religious right now, I’m really not but asking people who are watching friends and family die all around them to abandon their spiritual beliefs is pretty inhuman in my opinion.

Wow that went off on a tangeant, back on task, the show rocked as always.

There’s alot of buzz (namely someone who took a steaming smelly blog on the the “Morbid but effective” thread)over the new Raffi song. Entitled “salaam shalom” i heard it and knew instantly that he belongs on in the haze of the ass-hot-boxed g7 radio studio. If not perhaps you should cut your $200,000 dollar losses and board up this already condemned studio.
