ZEITGEIST

Someone mentioned Zeitgeist in the comments of my last post. I found it worth watching for the perspectives on Christianity and the Federal Reserve alone. Would like to learn more about both. If anyone has seen any rebuttals or further insights concerning these two topics, please post them here!

The website (www.zeitgeistmovie.com) has a wealth of information and additional resources for each section of the film. I found a documentary called Masters of the Universe: The Secret Birth of the Federal Reserve, which paints an even clearer picture of the mind blowing truth surrounding the corrupt US monetary system and the international banking interests who devised it.
While the section in Zeitgeist dealing with 9/11 may ring too much of a conspiracy theory for some people, you’d be hard pressed to find a more comprehensive collection of information focusing on an alternative representation of how and why those towers fell and thrust us so righteously into the middle east.
Comment by Chris on August 16th, 2007 at 12:23 pm:
Is that link to the website working for you? I can’t seem to get it to show me anything (hence the youtube link).
would like to see this Masters of the Universe/ Federal Reserve doc.
Comment by brett on August 16th, 2007 at 1:01 pm:
That website was where I originally viewed the film, and after checking it appears to be down. I’d like to think the site crashed due to a large amount of people viewing the streaming version they have on it and the problem isn’t long term or due to another more dubious cause, but that remains to be seen.
In addition to the film itself, the website had an extensive works cited list for each section of the film, as well as a great deal of additional outside content. Let’s hope it’s back up soon.
Comment by d. diddee on August 16th, 2007 at 2:09 pm:
Watched about half so far. The stuff on religion is interesting and reminds me of Joseph Campbell’s “The Power of Myth.” Not sure how its gonna all tie into 9/11 though, and i fear the film is gonna veer into charges that freemasons or illuminati are behind it all in their qwest for a 1 world govt or something along them lines. Guess i’ll find out soon enough.
One thing it didn’t mention in the discussion of religion is how many secular political movements are dervived from them too.
If you think about it anarchism is a form of christian heresy in that it ditches the superstitution and some of the sexual mores but very much adheres to much of the ethical foundations of christianity … remember that christianity was once very much a faith that promoted egalitarianism, helping the less fortunate, anti-usury, etc.
And marxism is undoubtedly a christian heresey.
Bertrand Russell illustrates the striking parallells between the two:
Yahweh + Dialectical Materialism
The Messiah = Marx
The Elect = the Proletariat
The Church = Communist party
The Second coming = The Revolution
Hell = punishment of the capitalists
The Millennium = the communist commonwealth
Comment by d. diddee on August 16th, 2007 at 2:10 pm:

Comment by d. diddee on August 16th, 2007 at 2:17 pm:
Perhaps the reason that historcially more people have gravitated towards Marxism rather than Anarchism is because the former is closer to christianity/judasim.

One question … the part where it ties in Christianity to the Fed Reserve must have flew over my head. Where/How does the film tie them together?
Comment by Sebast on August 17th, 2007 at 10:01 am:
It’s a convincing film, no doubt. However, with nothing more than basic general knowledge and a youthful obsession about the culture of the ancients, I find it kinda weird hearing that Horus is the humanized symbol for the Sun. I always thought that was reserved for the almighty Amûn-Ra, King of Gods (good title if your in a ChristCore band, but not if you’re the creator of the Universe).
I’m confused… and probably wrong.
Also, this 9/11 business… I’ts a totally new twist on the popular CIA+AlQaeda alliance to kill 3000 innocent civilians in order to have a nice precept to battle the alshitty Axis of Evil (cool name if you’re in a Muslim Thrasher band).
¿What ’bout the missile that crashed in the pentagon? ¿What ’bout the 255 dissapeared passengers on the 4th hijacked plane?
I dunno, I dunno… ¡and probably never will!
This is a long winded way of asking:
¿IS THIS FILM ACCURATE?
I wanna check the sources…

I can’t remember if thats the one Derek recommended but if it is, fuck me, it went off the cinema about a week ago now its on terrestrial TV, unprecedented. So thats great news. I can corroborate much of (at least) the section on christianity. Much of this section is confirmed by the dead sea scrolls alone, nevermind many domains of intellectual persuit that follows the evolution of civilization. Anthropologists and biblical scholars (not perhaps theologians) originally thought these scripts to be written some time shortly after christ as they share a great many passages (many being word for word) with the new testament and discribe a ‘teacher’ who is a remarkable silloutte of jesus the christ. However it has been realized that they were written a century or two BC and clearly fits in among the trend and evolving narrative of the Messiah. The date was proven through two different types of chemical dating techniques (radio carbon among others) as well as analysis of individual letter formations and language use. There were dozens of ‘messiah’s’ around this time. Anyway the dead sea scrolls are a pretty cool story and they are definitely a stick in the spokes of anyone under the persuasion of the cult of the messiah. I for one “desperately” await the messiah of the age of aquarius to plunge us into further holy wars, intellectual quashing and scientific arson for a couple thousand years all the while claiming to save us.

Right lads, here’s the craic. A very dedicated asylum right activist (and asylum seeker) from Uganda is facing removal tonight after a long, hard battle to remain here. In his native Uganda he was jailed and tortured for political activism and came here because his life was in danger. This dude has been fighting as hard as he can to stay, even from within detention, but has also dedicated a lot of time to campaigning on behalf of others. He is totally committed to improving the lot of asylum seekers in Britain and he’s quite simply a sweet, humble and honest guy who could do a lot of good if he is allowed to stay in England (never mind the fact he’s currently embroiled in a legal battle with custody officers.)
Public opinion has helped in his case before so I am asking you all to URGENTLY email and fax as per http://www.ncadc.org...wszine79/apollo.html

About your comment that Marxism is preferred over anarchism due to it likeness to Christianity. I agree with that but i think its more because since Christianity has became popular it has been organized in a top down fashion. I think it’s this the top down structure that makes it is easier to convince people of Marxism. So its familiar in its concept of some one in charge and most following orders. I say this because I am about 800 pages in to Emma Goldman’s autobiography after her and Alexander Berkman were deported to Russia it seemed that the Bolsheviks constantly preached about the Dictatorship of the proletariat up to and including Lenin whom they had a meeting with. This Dictatorship was to “fix” the ignorant backwards Russian population through forced industrialization and this would be accomplished by high raking officials through layers of bureaucracy. The thing that struck me as funny, well not funny haha but funny “my god thats depressing” is that one of the first Chomsky spoken word cd’s i listened to Propaganda and control of the Public mind he had quoted James Madison saying “The primary obligation of government is to protect the minority of the opulent from the majority , to put power in the hands of the better class of men.” which is to me a nicer way to say we need a dictatorship of the proletariat except of course in the US commerce and private property exists.

From NCADC:
”
Apollo was placed on the plane at 19:00hrs yesterday evening. At 19:10 he heard one of the escorts say that an injunction had been granted in favour of Apollo and the removal was stayed.
Apollo was taken of the plane and to the escort van, there was a driver and four guards. Apollo said that he was roughed up getting into the van by the four guards and subjected to racial abuse. He said he has a black eye, bruised ribs, pain in his neck and swelling to both hands.
They told him he was a black monkey who didn’t want to go back to Africa, that the British public were fed up with his kind and that is why at the next election they will vote for Cameron and the Conservatives who will get rid of the lot of them.”

I agree w/ your post. Looks like we’re on the same page.
This Dictatorship was to “fix” the ignorant backwards Russian population through forced industrialization and this would be accomplished by high raking officials through layers of bureaucracy.
And this is where Marx/Lenin got it wrong. Revolutions are mostly led by idealists in the initial phases, but when these figures fade from the scene leadership seems to invariably fall into the hands of opportunists & careerists whose overriding concern is holding onto their power & priveledges. They may continue to pay lip service to the original goals of the revolution but in reality the goals take a back seat to their own ambition. I think this has been shown to be the case wherever Marxism has taken hold.
If you ever have some time to kill i would suggest reading the book “True Believers” by Eric Hoffer, in which he offers a trenchant analysis of the history of revolutions and movements advocating social change. I think it offers valuable lessons on how movements become corrupted and directs thinking towards avoiding these pitfalls in the future.

I suggest searching for Ron Paul´s addresses and writings on the topic as he seems to be the leading advocate of abolition of it. It seems so primarily because he is in a political position that allows him a voice within the US government.
1) US Congressman Ron Paul from committee floor of House Financial Services Committee: http://www.youtube.c.../watch?v=A4kxTkhwR_Q
2) Ron Paul´s statement to the House calling for the abolition of the Federal Reserve. - http://www.house.gov...ec2002/cr091002b.htm

“shit” is a good word to describe rockwell. his website is an infected cornhole of private property and market worship. these guys treat it as if it is a religion. and anyone who disagrees is a totalitarian.
also beware the ron paul “mania” that is supposedly sweeping the web. he’s one of these guys who believe that fetuses have equal rights, and he’s a vehement opponent of just about every social success story in american history. in much the way that the hedges article discussed how reagan reversed what nader had accomplished, paul would be the same toward just about everything else. just let the market solve everything. basically you have no rights unless you own property. last week there was an article on Z by william blum where he found a quote by paul saying that “only about 5%” of blacks have sensible political opinions. “sensible” means that they agree with him: markets, corporate power, private property. paul neglected to mention that there couldn’t be more than about 25-30% of everyone else who agrees with him, as national polls consistently indicate that about 65-70% of americans are what would likely be called “social democrats”. yet the people who vote, vote for the “conservatives”. that shows you how powerful the propaganda is.
anyway, back on topic. that’s basically what antiwar.com is. it’s a site run by these libertarian guys. i use it for headlines, nothing more. and i will not donate a cent to them. they consistently bulldoze anyone to the left of them as a “commie” (including john pilger, who is listed as a featured columnist on the site). and then they wonder why they’re not meeting the donation goals each quarter, and have to resort to polite begging.

Imagine being an activist in a country where the very act of dissenting can easily find you in a bodybag. Imagine losing your husband, your livelihood and home, risking life and limb to find a sanctuary, not only to be refused it upon arrival, but to be raped and abused while you’re there?

Citizen Stefish … i appreciate your feedback about antiwar.com as i’ve been trying to solicit opinions on it from posters ’round here for a while.
Though i must respectfully disagree w/ your evaluation.
The primary editor/founder of the site, Justin Raimondo, is an open homosexual who has described himself as “hedonist” and ridicules arseholes like Tancredo who bash immigrants. So he is very much a social libertarian even though some of the contributors, like Pat Buchanan, are not. Raimondo also openly endorsed Ralph Nader in the 2004 election.
Now, i totally agree w/ you on the libertarian economics … as there are so many flaws in that ideology that i don’t see how anyone could seriously advocate it. On the flip side though, i have begun to have doubts about the viability of pure leftist anarchist ideolgogy when applied to the real world. I’m definitely a “Leftist”, but i’m not blinded by any ideology.
The American govt is guilty of committing numerous injustices, both foregin and domestic. At this time, however, the U.S. military involvement in the mid-east is the most egregious crime of them all. And i think the #1 moral priority for Americans right now is to get the fuck out of Iraq & Afganistahn immediately.
That said, i am in almost complete agreement with most of the contributors at antiwar.com in regards to their opinions of the role of the U.S. in international affairs … incidentally most contributors are also anti NAFTA, WTO, etc.
As for Ron Paul, I am in complete agreement with his assessment of our invovlement in the mideast, as well as certain other issues such as his condemnation of the patriot act & govt easvedropping. Though i certainly don’t agree w/ his stance on abortion or freemarket as humaities savior.
Out of all the shitheads seeking the GOP nomination, Paul is certainly the most principled, and if Americans are hell-bent on electing another Republican to the presidency, I would take Paul over the other any day. Could you imagine the consequences for humanity if some maniac like Guilliani gets elected?
So i support antiwar.com because it brings together a variety of people with often radically opposing world views yet having common ground on one crucial matter: a detestation of war and a sense of urgency that it needs to be stopped a.s.a.p.
Comment by diddee on August 24th, 2007 at 1:32 pm:
So while you’re flicking through your ideological checklist making sure an organization tics all the right boxes, innocent folks are stuck in the horror and agony of a hell on earth that won’t begin to end until U.S. troops get the fuck out of their lands …
I welcome any voice calling for an end to the insanity. Here’s some of what the “libertarian” Raimondo wrote today …
In a disgusting display of mendacity not seen since the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, a pro-war advertising campaign spearheaded by former White House spokesman Ari Fleischer is buying $15 million worth of 30-second television spots that repeat the lies linking 9/11 to Iraq – and explicitly threatening another terrorist attack in the US if we “surrender.” It’s the first storm in a season of fear.
The content of the ads – four of them, so far – is so completely dishonest that one wonders what the producers were thinking: do they really imagine the American people are going to swallow another round of complete fabrications? It’s hard to believe, but there you have it. Even more surreal than the assertions tying the 9/11 terrorist attacks to the Iraqis is the blatant exploitation of US troops in Iraq: this one, for example, shows a soldier who has lost a leg declaiming that he will have lost it for nothing if we allow “politics” – i.e. the overwhelming majority of Americans – to influence our policy. Then “everything I’ve given and sacrificed will mean nothing.” Here is the complete text:
“Congress was right to vote to fight terrorism in Iraq and I re-enlisted after September 11 because I don’t want my sons to see what I saw. I want them to be free and safe. I know what I lost. I also know that if we pull out now everything I’ve given and the sacrifices will mean nothing. They attacked us and they will again. They won’t stop in Iraq. We are winning on the ground and making real progress. It’s no time to quit. It’s no time for politics.”
So the liars who lied us into war, who fabricated “evidence” of Iraq’s “weapons of mass destruction,” aren’t to blame – oh no, of course not! It’s those of us who oppose this monstrous and mistaken invasion who are to be targeted as advocating “surrender” in a conflict that cannot be won without murdering half the population of Iraq and enslaving the other half. Because we allowed the Scooter Libbys and the Ari Fleischers to lure us into a quagmire, we must remain submerged there forever – or the loss of this soldier’s leg was all for naught.
What kind of morality is it that lets the perpetrator of a fraud off scot-free while blaming the victim who has been defrauded? It’s called neocon morality – where the neocons are always in the clear, and the rest of us are dunned to pay the price of their immeasurable hubris.
I say keep it up Justin!!

Comment by DaveB. on August 31st, 2007 at 7:02 pm:
I found this movie “Interesting”. I can’t comment on the first two parts, but I can comment on the third part.
The third part contained numerous errors about the federal reserve.
- The quotes contributed to Woodrow Wilson are incorrect/incomplete
- The federal reserve is a quasi-private organisation, in that there are shareholders, but the reserve is controlled by the board of directors which is appointed by the executive.
- Any interest revenue is not distrubuted to the shareholders
The assumption that all tax revenue is used to pay interest payments is absurd, and doesn’t even require anymore discussion.
The concensus among many people is that the federal reserve should be disbanded, but not for the reasons this movies states. The biggest champion of the dissolution of the federal reserve over the last 50 years has been Milton Friedman, and i’m sure that most people using this site to not share many (if any) of the values of Milton Friedman.
Comment by Chris on September 1st, 2007 at 7:51 pm:
DaveB: more please!
more detail on these on these errors! what’s a good source for the corrections you’ve outlined?
i don’t remember the film claiming that “all tax revenue” is used to cover interest payments. i missed that. perhaps that is a clarity issue? i’m sure the makers of the film understand that roads and schools and fighter/ bombers are subsidized by tax revenue, no?

Shithead (j/k) …
if you wanna learn more about the “fed” then just listen to this interview … http://www.antiwar.c.../08/21/lew-rockwell/
Can you understand that??
Comment by DaveB. on September 3rd, 2007 at 8:00 pm:
Correction from previous post, the Board of Governors is appointed by the executive.
The Board of Governors does the following: “The seven-member Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System determines the reserve requirements of the member banks within statutory limits, reviews and determines the discount rates established by the 12 Federal Reserve banks, and reviews the budgets of the reserve banks. The Chairman of the Board of Governors is appointed to a four-year term by the president of the United States.” – Encyclopaedia Britannica
Essentially they run the show, and are not part of the private banking industry.
It’s also important to note that the Federal Reserve does not actually create currency (coins/bills). That responsibility falls under the department of treasury.
In regards to the profits made by the Federal Reserve:
“FRB(federal reserve banks) earnings that exceed statutory amounts of surplus established for FRBs are paid to the Government”
This amount totalled 29.9 billion for fiscal 2006
Here is the link, Note M: http://www.gao.gov/f...otestofinancials.pdf
The “fed” is not as secretive as the movie portrays:
It releases independently audited financial statements:
http://www.federalre...eleases/h41/Current/
It also tables various reports to congress:
http://www.federalre...congress/default.htm
The movie states “nearly all” tax revenue goes into the hands of private bankers. Then compares it to slavery (I’ve seen many a bumper sticker in Alberta stating “Taxes=Slavery). As stated earlier by Chris, a majority of tax revenue is used to fund the spending habits of governments not on interest payments. In 2006, interest expense made up 7% of total expenses. (221/3127)= .07. This is total interest expense, interest payments to the Federal Reserve would make up only a portion of the 7%.
Here is the link to the financial statements of the United States government for the year ending Sept 30, 2006(Independently audited):

Lastly, the Bank of Canada is 100% a crown corporation. Not one private banker has any amount of ownership, yet we in Canada still have the same economic volatility as that of the US.
I am not saying central banks are good, or bad, as that is another subject. All I am trying to do is demonstrate that Zeitgeist may be a little off on its theory of the Federal Reserve.

this one began years ago, but 911 changed how they were to present this documentary. It’s a must see. The biggest names are interviewed in this one. Please spread the word.

DaveB: thanks for that additional info, much appreciated!
diddee: sometimes todd the rod’s posts lack a certain clarity. in other words, i still have no idea what the hell he was talking about when he said we were going to post new songs on the site. sometimes i imagine him sitting on a bus, staring out the window…then my point of view zooms into his ear canal and the inside of his head is a filigree of golden monkeys operating massive calliopes and there are tons of beach-balls bouncing all over the place and everything smells like gum.

I believe the intro about religion serves more as function to demonstrate that what we think we know, is far from the truth. Demolishing religion is an easy thing to do, so it set up believable precedent to go into the 911 Myth and the Federal Reserve. Christianity has affectively been debunked. It is simply irrational to believe it. So, again, this break down of the Christian myth merely serves the purpose of making it easier to deny the government’s myths on 911 and so on.
