You may have noticed the “actual news” headlines that run on our front page. They come from a really cool website called The NewStandard, and they’re currently in a membership drive. From their site:

The NewStandard is a new and very different kind of news resource, published by PeoplesNetWorks, a small, nonprofit collective. The NewStandard is one of the only professional, independent, noncommercial hard news sources in the United States.

The NewStandard has developed a form of news reporting that places integrity and relevance at the core of journalism. The sensationalism, commercialism and thinly-veiled biases you have come to expect from news media have met their nemesis.
