PCL colour pressing sold out, and other LP-related items …
Well that was fast. Our 300 green/white copies of Potemkin City Limits have all been spoken for. After the mayhem settles down, we may end up with some copies left from delinquent credit card orders, etc etc, but until then, all new orders for the album will be receiving black vinyl. If you’re really frothing at the mouth for the coloured vinyl, try the folks at Suburban Home Records to see if they have any left.
On a related note, there seems to have been varying amounts of confusion in discussions taking place on the globalized feces network – or what some call “the internet” – regarding the specificities and price of said Propagandhi LP. So let’s clarify some shite!
- The $18 ticket price reflects not only the cost of pressing two LPs for each package, but also double the amount of paper (as it is a gatefold), and a drastically increased price for the paper, as it is 100% recycled (outside jacket 57% post-consumer, inserts 100% post-consumer) and printed with soy-based inks and coated with a water-based finish (both biodegradable). It also includes the cost of an LP mailer, which alone costs nearly $2.
- Yes, it costs a lot to ship this thing if you live in the US or elsewhere outside of Canada. This is something we have no control over unfortunately. Shit is heavy. Many other mailorder sites are presently or will soon be selling it as well, and if they are nearer to you, it may be cheaper to ship.
- This is a one-time press of 3000 records, 500 of which are on green/white vinyl. Our Canadian distributor Sonic Unyon and our U.S./World distributor Suburban Home each got 100 of those coloured records and we had 300 (which are now sold out).
- This record will indeed be available in indie record stores near you on (or near) April 25th.
- The limited edition nature of this release has to do mainly with the prohibitive cost of making vinyl and the fact that it is generally a collossal nightmare. It is unrelated to us trying to create a collector’s market or “cash in” or anything stupid like that.
- Bored yet? Me too!
Hopefully this will help fill the informational gap between your teeth?
