Propagandhi vinyl: shit’s fucked-up

The powers that be will seemingly spare no expense in thwarting the revolutionary potential of hardcore records. They know that we are on the verge of changing the world in, like, probably one or two utterly insignificant ways with Propagandhi’s “Potemkin City Limits” double LP, due to be released next Tuesday, April 25th. So, what have the powers done this time?

Well, they’ve taken close to half of the pressing of said record, and pressed the same three songs on both sides of disc one. Then they’ve let half of these records (about 700 or so) get packaged, shrink-wrapped, and shipped out of the pressing plant without being detected as defects.

The defects were contained entirely within a larger shipment to our distributor, Suburban Home Records. This means a couple of things. First, many mail-order customers who ordered from Suburban Home received defect copies. Secondly, distributors in the US and Europe also received defect copies (though in unkown quantities, amongst perfectly good records).

This makes us very upset – actually, enraged – as this is a collassal fuck-up and was unfortunately beyond our control. Nothing is worse than collosal fuck-ups that are beyond your control, particularly when they reflect poorly on you and especially when they throw your whole plan to limit the ecological footprint of a release right out the window. This is made all the more unbelievable considering that we received test pressings and samples of the first production run that were in no way flawed.

What are we doing about this?

We are receiving replacement copies of disc one from the pressing plant in quantity enough to replace all the defective records. Anyone who buys a copy of the record and finds that their disc one is a defect will receive a replacement copy of disc one free of charge, shipped directly to them from us. All we need is an email to orders@g7welcomingcommittee.com (or a phone call, or a letter) with your address and we will fix shit up for you.

If you’re one of the 100 people who ordered a coloured vinyl copy from Suburban Home, you will be contacted directly about receiving a replacement disc free of charge.

What this means for everyone who pre-ordered a record from G7

Since this was caught before any records were shipped to us (or our Canadian distributor Sonic Unyon), the copies destined for us (and hence you) are being corrected at the pressing plant. The good thing about this is that you’ll get a proper copy from the get-go. The bad thing is that this causes yet another delay. We have been assured that finishing these records is the number one priority for the pressing plant, and we can only hope they get their shit together to fix this as soon as humanly possible. We will be adding a bonus to everyone’s order as a small conciliatory prize for the extended wait time.

Again, we are sorry to all for the craziness, and rest assured we are more pissed about this than anyone. Except for Glen. He’s actually not so mad, cuz it’s his three songs that get repeated.
