Propagandhi: acceptance speech? Sustained applause?

Hi, Chris here. A wise person once said “awards are like hemorroids: eventually every asshole gets one”.

Well folks, in a bizarre, out-of-left-field twist of fate, Propagandhi has somehow veered dangerously close to the event horizon of one of the music industry’s lesser-known brown holes. This particular hole is a gravity-well called the ECHO award, and features a $5000 prize to the winner.

How the hell we got nominated for this thing is anyone’s guess, but I am told that we will not win because the other nominees are young, fresh and exciting “buzz” bands. Well, if anyone feels like voting for the mangy, flea-ridden old mutt who wandered into the high-society dog show looking for an old bone to chew on, go here and do so. Apparently you can vote once every day (strange as that may seem)?

In the unlikely event that we are awarded this prize (for the song “A Speculative Fiction” from Potemkin City Limits), we will use it make donations to the Haiti Action Network and The Welcome Place, which is an organization here in Winnipeg that we’ve done volunteer work for that helps refugees start new lives in Manitoba (it ain’t easy, yo…don’t believe the hype).

So there you have it. Help some nice fellas out who ain’t never won nothin’.
